I'm connected to KT, my connection i thought went down, nothing is d/lding, BUT my KT router looks ok, and in control panel it shows connected. do a bunch of resets, nothing. I bring in my laptop which i normally run off a wi-fi, unplug the cable from my wireless router plug it into this machine. all is fine so I think it may be a router problem.
so i then plug the cable into my desktop (KT modem to computer) and nothing.
I got a KT guy coming tomorrow but what if the problem is with my desktop, any ideas how to fix it? |

Sounds to me like either your IE settings got messed up, or someone else is jumping on your IP address/stealing the numbers and using it. They probably guessed at the last IP number, and chose yours to get a connection.
It's a common problem. |

hmmm, can you serve the net? Perhaps your ethernet port/card took a dump. |

| one thing I noticed about Korean modems is a lot of times they will remember the MAC address of the network card that was connected to them first. So if I unplug a desktop and plug in my notebook, it wouldn't work. Maybe you plugged your notebook in directly one time without the wifi and the modem remembers the mac address of the notebooks network card? Anyways a way around this is to unplug the modem for 10 seconds with nothing plugged in and then plug in the computer/router that you want to use. This will usually make the modem forget the mac address and make it more willing to use the new one. I'm not sure if this is your problem but give it a try. |

Open up a command window.
type
ipconfig /release *
then wait for the c:\ to come on again.
then type
ipconfig /renew
see if you can tracert
type
tracert www.yahoo.com
Then you should see the IP address of www.yahoo.com
If not, then not resolving. But it could be anything.
reboot your computer, not your modem. |

| I have to disconnect the ether net cable from the modem or the computer to make my connection work again. I do this 1 to 3 times a night. |
