For me, it's a combination of drinking, taking pictures, seeing friends, and watching bands.

Integrating into Korean society by meeting Korean people, i.e. meeting girls in clubs.

I voted for the sightseeing option. Some people spend most of their weekends at the bar or at the PC bang. Since being in Korea is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, I figure that going out over to other cities or out to the countryside is the best way for me to get the most out of the experience, and practice speaking the language as well. Korea is by far a very beautiful country.

As far as studying Korean, that's typically for the weekdays in the hours before and after work.

i love it. look at the "joined date:" below each responding poster's name. the one who has been here the least is still excited and spending many hours studying Korean, the long-termer has resigned himself to drinking, while the other is somewhere in between. Laughing

Only that's not what they said. Read it again.

And FYI the joined date is when they joined this WEBSITE, NOT when they came to Korea.

I came to Korea in December 2003 and didn't sign up on Dave's until I was bored and employed in a desk job.

jumping on the fast track to burnout--> working; meeting new people and working more. I used to spend my weekends boozing, but it got old fast.

Too busy for the mountains or the countryside. I try to stay in my neighborhood and avoid Seoul at all costs.

Thank God my wife hates nora-bongs too. I think I'd rather watch paint dry then to watch drunk people sing. My favorite time of the weekend is when the two of us are snuggled up watching a good movie.

Ha ha Bassexpander, that pic is so hilarious.

That young man had a tad too much to drink and now his purse is just sitting there waiting for a thief.

I wonder if passed out guys laying around in public get robbed in Korea? In the most countries, passing out in public means losing all valuables.

As for weekend activities, it depends on the weather, season, and how tired I feel from a long week.

In late Summer and Fall, I was hiking a lot. Now, I am staying home, watching movies, eating out, and doing Internet. I still picked hiking and outdoor recreation to be the most constructive.

So maybe this speaks more about Dave's ability to make people pessimistic and depressed rather than Koreas?
