Buddhism Under Siege In South Korea
Quote: |
There has always been the burning of temples by extreme Koreans.
Theres also a video on youtube showing Korea's recently elected president showing his support for a Christian gathering, after which it shows the group (the president isn't participating) prays for the success of churches in different regions and the destruction of temples in the same region.
They go through a long list of towns, showing the number of churches and temples there. |

Of course it is. Have you seen the batshit Christians that inhabit this country? I never thought I'd run into a nation with as many militaristic Christians as America... Korea proved me wrong. |

If that's a real pic, I'm not a buddhist, but if it's a real pic I'd like to go up to that idiotic cross holding *beep* who's harrassing the monk and punch him full on accross the bridge of his nose. |

The "Evangalical" Christians who go out in the public squares and recite John 3:16 repeatedly into a microphone don't get that much respect either in Korea. |

Koreans don't respect Bush either. It was America that elected Bush, not the Koreans. |

Why should a little thing like Korean current events get in the way of some tool trying to sound intelligent? |

I once saw some Christians reading the bible to some kids in front of a busy department store, the kids' parents nowhere in sight.
That's pretty sleazy. |

The Joseon dynasty was one long Confucianism-(read: Chinese assimilation) happy attempt to eradicate Buddhism: to no avail. |

Koreans and religion are like Germans and zyklon-B. Just a little and it's a ter-jerker. Too much, it's a gas. |
