| any suggestions? I wanna go to the top and take pictures. The closer to Seoul/Daejeon/Jeonju the better |

Songrisan national park isn't too far from Daejeon. It's between Cheongju and Chungju. Beobjusa is also within the park and a wonderful temple with a 30? meter gold Buddha that looks better than Bangkok's "standing Buddha."
In Seoul, Suraksan, Bukhansan (especially the Doseonsa/Baegundae hike) and Dobongsan are all nice hikes. A lot of Bukhansan also has an old, protective wall that makes for good pictures. |

| My favorite is Songnisan. And Gyeryongsan is nice and pretty close to Daejeon. |

You can go to Soracksan and take the cable car to the top. |

The cable car at Seoraksan does give you a nice view. However, it by no means goes to the top. You can hike up and down Daechongbong Peak (third tallest mountain in the ROK) in a day if you're pretty fit.
Ulsanbawi at Seoraksan is a nice day climb.
If you didn't mind flying, you could go down to Jeju-do and climb Hallasan. It's the tallest mountain in South Korea. It has two nice shorter trails, and two trails that go to the very peak (although I hear those last two are only open to the public during the winter). |

| Can you do any of these hikes at Soraksan (eg Daechongbong, Ulsanbawi) or elsewhere on the mainland once the snow and cold weather set in, or are they just pretty much limited to the summer season? I also heard that beaches like the one in Sokcho are only open for just a very brief time period during the year. Is this pretty common? |

Mt chirisan is very nice. Only problem there is getting tourist info in english. Closest info center is miles from the entrance.  |
