The first few months, then yes; going out every night getting wasted till dusk and load of of random hoes. But it has long worn off, now aday I really felt the itch to punch those scooters that run on sidewalks and the elderlies who love to push and shuff while entering public transports. |

While I have frustrations and irritations living here, some of the job frustrations are the same as I had teaching back home, so that part isn't different. Daily life is more difficult here than at home, but that is what I expected when I chose to leave home. I'm working with the age-group I prefer and the students are highly motivated. So yeah, I'm reasonably happy. |

No. Not happy here.
I missed my flight to China the other day, courtesy of soju.
No joke!
Korea's overly permissive attitude toward hard drugs has really messed up my life.
(Would be laughing at my own rather lame attempt at humor if it weren't sadly true. Two thousand won gets you hammered out of your mind here in Korea, possibly to the extent that you can't get up the next morning. Try doing that back home!)
Now it's 5:48 AM two days later, I'm still on the soju, AND I've gotta talk with my travel agent later today.
That was to have been the "escape flight," too, my final flight out of this hanmin-joking uri nara. And now here I am--stuck. In the pit of winter.
With only 10,750 condoms remaining . . .
Of course, eyeing my neighbor's pet poodle, the one with the bright pink ears . . . hmm . . . I could abduct the thing, beat it to death with a curtain rod, make stamina soup, accomplish the next airport run with or without the soju hangover . . .
No, really, just hanmin-joking! |

Many Koreans are good people, food is good, many good things in Korea like internet and cell phones, and the chance to use Korea as a base to travel to other countries. These are the good things here.
The culture sucks and the lack of manners and ethics are a problem. So overall I would have to say I am 50/50. |

I find the only thing that ruins my day is dealing with Korean officials, from the government to the head office in the organization I work for. Overcrowded buses and subways suck, too, as does taxi drivers who don't want to go from Gangnam to the northside of the river. |

After 4 months, I finally feel content. They say your first 3 months is the honeymoon period but it was no honeymoon for me. I wouldn't say I'm happy but rather content. I have a very small network of friends, but it's all good.
I will never get used to the last minute Korean bureaucracy, rude people pushing you and bumping into you, and many other quirks. |

Happy? Let's put it this way: I'm satisfied with my decision to come to Korea. By the time I leave, I'll be close to -- or just past -- the 3-year mark. Coming here has allowed me to save some money, to make progress on my educational goals, to change careers, to get established as an expat, and so on. I've met some terrific people, learned a lot, and had some life-changing experiences. I appreciate all that.
Coming here, I made the right decision. I appreciate the things Korea has done well, too, like urbanization and public transport. I appreciate my friends. I appreciate having a job that gives me 5 months off with pay. But I've basically done what I came here to do, and there are more reasons to leave than to stay.
