I think the title is misleading. If rich women were just 'too busy' or 'couldn't be bothered' with going through pregnancy, then I'd agree 'outsourcing' would be an appropriate title and that the Indian women were being exploited.
According to the article, couples who are not able to have a baby without the help of a surrogate are the customers. I have no ethical problem with that as long as the Indians are being fairly compensated. |

The article states that the women who volunteer their time and bodies are very well compensated . . . so well in fact that within a 9 month span, they can earn more than they would normally make with over 15 years of work. I suppose that for what it's worth, it can be quite lucrative. But there are also other ethical concerns that worry some people, for example the concept of creating exploitative "baby factory farms" or the anxiety created from separating a "mother" from child.
I think the title was an added bit of humor, seeing to as how there are so many outsourced jobs in India.
