Okay, I haven't been happy with my Graphics performance on my laptop.
I have a power miser video card Gforce 6150.
I want to upgrade.
The laptop is the HP Pavilion dv9000 series.
AMD Turion64x2 running Vista home, 17" screen.
Recommend me a good video card for my laptop.
I don't care about battery life.
My performance and information tool give me a base 2.6 for the graphics.
Memory disk and processor come in at 4.5, I'd like the graphics to match my other performance numbers. |

Pretty limited options available for video cards in laptops. I think there might be a few PCMCIA video cards available and some laptops allow for swapping cards (or at least there was a rumor about this a few years back), but laptops aren't desktops and it's not possible to do many hardware upgrades. Nor is there much selection for available components. |

I've got the same crappy video card in my HP. I do have a 12 cell battery and added an extra gig of ram that make things a little better performance and power wise, but I, like you would like a better rating on my card for Vista. Let me know if you have any luck, cause I was thinking of upgrading it as well. |

I also agree with this. If you are not moving your laptop from place to place regularly just by a desktop as you'll spend less and end up getting more. |

Haha. I'm like a lot of you in the tech forum. I like to have bigger and better things, but don't need to buy a new laptop at this time. I have a pretty nice newer desktop (rates at 5.6 on Vista), a new condition HP laptop, and a Macbook. I know it's overkill . |

Ha..
my new desktop rates a 5.9 across the board for vista, I've got my older desktop and a laptop as well. I would like a new laptop, not for the increase in power, but rather as a reduction in weight. During the semester I carry it everyday and at 2kg (plus all my other teaching gear) my shoulder gets really sore by the end of week. |

Yes, I have seen that beast that you built and envy you. My HP laptop, which gets all of the use is very heavy, but I am more comfortable using it than the Mac. I gave my gf my newer Macbook since she is enamored with them, and am selling her older one soon. Humm...what to do that that cash I wonder? Something is getting an upgrade . |
