Please tell us how it was racist.

Also, that position seems to offer 4 weeks vacation in the winter and the summer...but you have to work for 3 weeks during that 4 week period. Is this how anyone else reads it?

ESL Camp
The ESL Camp is a three-week long intensive, residential English Language Program for elementary and middle school students offered during the summer and winter vacation. The teachers will have six 45-min-long regular classes and two 45-min-long review & activity sessions per day, 5 days/week from Monday to Friday and the last Saturday.

so you get more work during your vacation??? Sweet.

You get around 8-10 weeks vacation per semester, but usually around the middle of that time you have to work a 3-week camp. Depending on the yearly schedule, you might have, say, 2 weeks off, then come back to work camp and then another 5-6 weeks off.

But they have camp meetings and start of the semester meetings that occur several days before each start, so you lose a few days here and there as well.

It's a crappy system and nobody likes it. The camps are 12-hours a day and you only get paid an extra 1.6 or 1.7 million before tax. They do some very dodgey accounting in that place.

The Canadian (caucasian male) was drilled on questions about his "ethnic" origins, the ethnic origins of his parents, and the ethnic origins of his grandparents. The American (mulatto male) was asked if the university he graduated from really existed and if it was for "African Americans" only. They were both really hurt.

This posting is actually their second this year. With their terrible offer and this latest info, I can see why no one would want to work there.

Actually this is their third posting. A friend of mine used to work there a couple years ago and said it was OK. I can see someone putting up with the terrible conditions (for a univ. job) for a year and use it as a stepping stone to something better later on.

I have not heard that word in at least 15 years, probably more like 20.

I thought I would google "suwon university". Maybe I shouldn't have.

This is a pretty weird link, though it looks to be very dated.

that site was up when we first came here in 1996, but there is some current info on the blacklists so the guy who runs the site must still be around.

at that time the univ of suwon had their teachers living in a hotel. we knew a guy who worked there before coming to the job where we met him
