I don't think you know what you're talking about. Raising just a single child properly is often more than a two person job. Many good parents often joke that mother nature should have required three people to procreate.

Then you are not prepared to be a proper father.

	  | This has evolutionary justification. Men seek to maximize their contribution to the gene pool by having as many offspring as possible. Time spent providing for a pregnant partner could be better spent fathering other children with other women. |

Human men are not predetermined pieces of meat--they have free will. You don't have to operate like a rat or a squirrel.

In any case, I'd happily contribute to my children's welfare, development, education etc. They'd be very lucky to have a father like me who they do not see every single day than the many disgusting characters out there. |

With your level of writing, one would think you would be able to recognize a bad argument when you write one. Many children would be "happy" to have a slob of a father who contributes minimally, but doesn't sexually abuse them. However, neither fit the proper role of a father. Neither should be fathering children. |

We do ???

Name one thing you will ever "choose" that is not rooted and caused by something outside of your control or choice . If it was not caused then it's random....and if your choices are random they are not free .

There is a good deal of evidence that human beings are predetermined pieces of meat actually .

If you don't like that......don't even consider reading sociobiology ..... |

The point stands. Single moms can and do do great jobs raising kids. It's an irrelevance in any case. I seek to father children and I will contribute substantially and positively to their lives. What I wont do is play ball with monogamy. I do not find and never will find older women attractive. The evolutionary basis for this is that they are less fertile. By contrast, the reason why (chiefly rich and high status) men are attractive is because women find resources and status sexy (and also men as old as 92 can father a child). The extent to which men become infertile with age is totally minimal. So, what should I do? Have no sex life when I'm old? Screw that. I'm gonna take full advantage of being wealthy, handsome and athletic because younger chicks love all that. This is a perfectly natural instinct. Im gonna have my cake and eat it!

	  | Quote: |

	  | Then you are not prepared to be a proper father. |

You're making the unwarranted, unfounded, arbitrary assumption that the only valid form of fathering involves monogamous intercourse with mom. There are millions of monogamous dads who are worse dads than me. Monogamous intercourse with mom is peripheral to good parenting.

The point stands. Men, instinctively, seek to maximize their contribution to the genepool. By fathering children to different women, I am merely obeying natural selection. In evolution, older men and younger women go together like cigars and whiskey. We have free will only to an extent. We have a genetic heritage that is compelling. Which do you prefer - beef or pork? If beef, your choice to select a beef dish on a menu consisting of beef and pork dishes isn't much of a choice. With sexuality it's no different. I cannot help finding girls older than me unappealing, just as I've never been much of beetroot man. Had it fed to me as a kid and I just freakin hated it. Shame, as it's very healthy.

My position is this: I seek to father children and possibly with different women. I have the wherewithal, financial means, decency, motivation to contribute to all of such children's development.

Your position above is: slobs and sexually-abusive fathers shouldn't be fathering children.

No correlation whatsoever.

In any case, Bryan, I refuse to have an arbitrary set of values imposed on me. I own my life. |

It's better to be in love, and it's hard to get someone to love you if you're screwing around... most people won't stand for it, unless they're doing the same thing, but then I don't really find those kinds of people too appealing.

So I guess I'll have to go with the marriage thing. |

How old are you? 25?

The single mom argument is hilarious. Bryan is right in all his points against that. You sound like you don't have much life experience.

How are you going to contribute substantially to a child's life on an ESL teacher's salary? Especially since as you age, your getting laid budget is going to go up and up and up. Those younger women don't come for free. Maybe men haven't sexually figured out that the link between youth and fertility does not really matter to them, but women... women don't rely on wrinkles to tell if you have money. Women are practical. Women will check your numbers.

The evolutionary angle is a joke. Humans evolved all these sexual preferences back when we were living a hunter gatherer lifestyle. We didn't have "stuff" so older people did not have built up resources. Sexually, women are programmed to like a man who is young and strong and can kill a wild boar with a crude wooden spear then carry it home to her on his muscular hot sweaty back. Mmmm. Boar.

In our culture and most cultures, women will settle for an old man with money. Don't mistake that for a built-in sexual attraction to wrinkles. Or do. It's pretty funny. |

people justify everything by saying 'oh, its natural, its a simple biological fact'. funny how those 'facts' align perfectly with their own self-interest.

if you are an old geezer who has used his economic status to bag an attractive young gold-digger, it might be perfectly natural for her to find a more handsome young man to have some real enjoyment with on the side. i imagine that wouldn't sit so well.. |

I fail to see what a persons age has to do with the validity of their claims. Im a little older than 25 but less than 30.

I fail to see what a persons life experience has to do with the validity of their claims. I have plenty of life experience and unlike the vast majority of people who TEFL in Korea am a qualified teacher.

Ive done very well out of ESL. In any case, although heaven forbid I would ever boast about money, I am rather a wealthy individual quite irrespective of my occupation.

I see no need to pay the above the compliment of a rational rebuttal.

Professor Robin Dunbar of Liverpool University appears to disagree (.....)

As do these scientists

This is what happens when you actually research a topic instead of pulling stuff about hunter gatherers outta your ass!

I accept that, but its very partial. There are other aspects to masculinity appreciated by heterosexual women, such as humor, depth, superb taste, education, charisma, energy, spritedness, stylishness, wealth and resources and I possess those in abundance. Hugh Grant is very attractive to women but I can scarcely imagine him returning home carrying a wild boar. In any case, Draz, the point is, as women age, their chances of scoring with your spear-wielding, muscular hunter are zero.

If I have given the impression that thats what I think, then I shall be more guarded. Probably though, its a strawman claim and somebodys critical thinking skills could do with a sharpen, as could the young fella's crude wooden spear! |
