So, I'm thinking about accepting a position teaching in Incheon and i was looking for some input on the city.
I'm hoping for some well-balanced, not overly-biased opinions.
Also, I was wondering - I hear Incheon can be considered a suburb of Seoul. While I understand that it is close, Incheon has its own aspects of a city, right? For example, it has its own downtown, its own places of interest (not that I'm looking for tourist attractions, but I am looking for a city that is interesting to live in without having to venture to Seoul every weekend).
I am currently living in rural Japan and, while air pollution doesn't overly appeal to me, I don't mind a bit of a dirty city in other aspects. In fact it woudl be a welcome change to the overly clean and ordered life I am currently living.
Anyways, I'd really appreciate any input anyone has about this city.
thanks!!!

Well, I'm told it's Tommy Chong. Or I could just pretend it's my friend whose account I hijacked.

Yo, this same question is posted about 2 times a week or more, often followed by Cohiba's FFF rule.

Search for "Incheon," or simply scroll through the last 5-10 pages for the title "Incheon."

P.S. Incheon sucks, read about it, you'll be on the subway to Seoul every weekend.

Very Happy

Remember "Cohiba's Rule":

Think twice before you live outside of Seoul. "In Seoul" and
"outside of Seoul" are like two different countries. Seoul
is an interesting place with variety and venues for most
tastes. Outside of Seoul you will find a homogeneous Korean
culture. I don't mean this in a bad way, but you will never
find things like: French, Greek, Indian or any other ethnic
foods. Markets that sell sherry, pate, pastrami, ricotta cheese.
Specialty shops that sell dart accessories, cuban cigars or
cowboy boots.

The FFF RULE: FFF=Fun For Foreigners.

If FFF in Seoul = 100, then FFF decreases at
1/distance. So 2km from Seoul FFF=1/2(100)=50;
10km from Seoul FFF=1/10(100)=10. This rule is
a rule for nightlife, food and foreign products only.
Nature etc. is on a different scale altogether.

This means you will be wasting a lot of time commuting
to Seoul. This is especially a drag if you have been
boozing on a Friday night and there are no buses or
trains.

I, unfortunately, live in Incheon where the FFF factor
is almost in the negative range. I know!
