				| interesting article there.. Just a little warning if anyone is very squeamish (or a big dog lover) there is a small picture of some dogs that have been skinned ready for eating... (one of the points is about dogs being eaten in korea & elsewhere) I don't have a problem with it, but perhaps someone might. |

yeek! Forgot to warn people about that.

As a shamanist, I can say our tribe members feel VERY strongly about dogs, and that one was rough for me, too.

Sorry for not giving a 'heads up!'

"Western society has a similar fetish with the whole 'Catholic schoolgirl' thing, so from that standpoint it doesn't seem quite so odd."

Actually, the blurb on cat-eating is somewhat incorrect. The Vietnamese are extremely fond of eating 'little tigers' as they are called and there are 'little tiger' restaurants all over Vietnam - especially in Ho Chin Min city.

Also, the Chinese were caught in Vancouver, some years ago now, paying little boys 25 cents each for housecats/alleycats that they brought to the restaurants. The Vancouver Health Department had a fieldday.

In addition, the outbreak of SARS is attributed to the eating of civet cat.

I adore cats, look at my honey - and I positively hate the idea of anybody even thinking about eating one. However, to each his own, I guess, and if the Chinese or Vietnamese want to get SARS, well ... |
