Before 1994 - Not many on the planet apart from a few Chilieans and Taiwanese thought you were credible human beings! You must be used to it by now!

That's right...you were all to busy painting over your own social issues by meddling in ours which are far too complicated for you to ever have understood.....now you'll clap your hands as our country and lives go down the toilets . Oh well...never mind...you've payed your guilt tax .
The idea that South Africans are more racist than Europeans , Australasians or Americans is madness. Who willingly lives in Africa ?Who exactly practiced genocide again ?
Drop the political correct nonsense for a second .If you lived in a country where it was not safe to let your kids play outside because of the very real perception that people wanted to harm them (and always have due to history and poverty) ...I don't care how much you polish your view points .....if you loved your family and you could you'd put means into place to protect them . My people have historically been berated for doing nothing more than trying to protect their own in a very hostile environment . You won't hear it from the media but the reality is that most black South Africans were not ever interested in holding our hands and singing kumbuya during the days of apartheid . A big part of the movement wanted to bring about communism and kill us . (Thank god for Madiba , Mbeki and the likes who embraced the values of peace ....)
My father sat on a border with a gun for 14 years trying to save his family from this fate . You call him a racist because you're ignorant .....you label a whole group of people with a certain trait ignorant of the cause of their behaviour....he's nothing of the sort and nor are most of us ( given some people are very bitter and angry due to having loved ones murdered or traumatised ...the reality is it's never by their own race ....an empathetic human being would try and understand ) ....the real racists are people like you who would lump a whole group of people , very diverse in nature....into the same group and assume the same negative traits about them....shame on you .

My opinion is that Britain is to blame for the creation that was the monster that became apartheid South Africa - racial segregation was practised and upheld in all of the British empire - from Hong Kong to Bermuda and the West Indies as well as Africa. However in 1948 - the Afrikaner nationalist goverment took it to a new level.
Your post is justifying apartheid! There is no reason on this planet where apartheid was justified! Maybe a lot of black people in South Africa did not want to 'hold hands with you' but then they were treated as non people and thus like shit by the succession of British, Afrikaners and Portuguese who venntured into the Southern part of Africa for 300 years. The resulting chaos today of the country is down to apartheid and racial discrimination! We both know it too!
That the enviroment is hostile is not an excuse to enslave and dehumanize the native people based on the colour of their skin. Again the British have a lot to shoulder what happened in South Africa also.
However I'm old enough as are many people to remember the Soweto riots and the other inhuman treatment that was meted out by the South African goverment during those times, as a human being I'm flawed and sometimes I label a whole nationality with the same brush which is wrong - my apologies go out to any South African who is also glad to see the back of the inhuman ideology that was apartheid and tries not to excuse the system. |

Politically corren bollocks . I know the popular version of the story too , trust me . If it's justifying apartheid to say that if not for the white government you would have had a worse black government (if any government at all) . Then yes I'm justifying apartheid .
I'm playing devils advocate here .Actually I'm the last person who would justify apartheid ...I'm a very liberal South African and an idealist....and for exactly those reasons I won't be demonised by ignorance .
Do you know who killed and abused black people the most during apartheid ? Other black people . Tribal wars were raging in South Africa before and during apartheid . It was not better off before the white man came .A guy named shaka Zulu was running rampant and murdering everyone.

Do you know who are the victims of the high crime in south Africa today ? i'm not old enough . When I went to school I went to a private school which was 40% black . By the time I was in high school apartheid was finished . I entered a job market where only 1 in 10 jobs could go to white people by law . Nobody could ever argue I had anything to do with apartheid or benefitted from it . I actually suffer for it . I am a victim of it more than any of you berating me for it . Don't F#cking lecture me about apartheid . |

Do you know that during apartheid the japanese enjoyed the status of honoury "whites" ?
Anyway....I'm still really interested in hearing about getting a visa to Japan . Some people told me it's almost impossible for us africans these days . |

Which happens all over the world, happened in 1993 in Europe which led to the collapse of the former Yugoslavia which lead to the deaths of hundreds and thousands of people. Does this mean we have to brutalize and dehumanize the people because this may happen? Of course not!

This is a good point, why did Europeans leave their home for South Africa? Was it to make money? Gold, diamonds? farming? Do you not think the abuses against the native peoples was more down to a very violent and reactionary form of capitalism - make a few people rich while the majority work like slaves for peanuts. Actually - my next door neighbour emigrated and worked as an electrician down a gold mine in the 1970s in South Africa and said the black workers who dug the gold and the diamonds despite abuses off the white bosses were like trojans and he had all the respect for them. Lets not kid ourselves that apartheid was done for anything other than to keep a few people in a artificial state of wealth.

Exactly!
I think the Taiwanese were 'white' but South African born Chinese who went there and were 4th generation South African Chinese were 'non white'
South Africa and Taiwan were massive business partners.
So based on money and capitalism - one nationality was 'white' and one was not - even though they are the same race!

I'm defending the rights of White South Africans to defend themselves . We are a paranoid people . We suffer from that "wild west" syndrome just like the Americans . Happens to all people in hostile environments . The point is I think we did what any other group of people would have done if they could have . We chiselled out a niche for ourselves where our kids and women were safe ...we didn't see ourselves as bad...we saw ourselves as tough and udner siege and misunderstood . In doing so some of us went too far and got fat off the gold and diamonds and lost our way . But we're not bad or cruel or callous people . But we also did many good things...healthcare , economy , infrastructure etc ...come to South Africa and see what we did . You will be quite impressed .

i dont know their motives . Whoever they were they were Dutch , English , German and French and not South Africans . Berate those nationalisties if you must . I'm a socialist at heart . I'm right behind the working classes and the miners . Passionate about their rights . I'm also just happen to be a South African and white . I don't see how the two matters are related .
South Africa has the 4th highest amount of new dollar millionaires every year . The love is getting spread around . Hear the good word .

I don't like some of the political discourse that demonises white people in the country though . That has no place in the future of a healthy country . I have to say this (and its not very PC so watch out)
but watching Black "leaders" run SA and Rhodesia is so sad I suspect it would be better the old way. Listening to a countries president and health minister talk about eating carrots to prevent AIDS leaves me to believe some are not ready to "lead". |
