For years I have taught in a women's university and whenever they discuss High School or middle school; most attended all girl schools, they ask about the Burberry man. It seems to be a common occurrence. One girl even they that the same man would come everyday. It seems that little is done to deal with these men. I would venture to say that it is a more common occurrence here than in any of the places that we are from.

Because the Burberry men are Korean, it's a social issue, not a criminal one. Even if he was to touch some girls, the judges wouldn't punish the man because he's Korean.

That sound like a joke, doesn't it. But it's completely probable.

They're considered harmless perverts. They're unlikely to molest someone because they get their jollies from not touching girls. Of course that's totally untrue, and at least one has escalated into violent rape and been caught for it, probably many others.

It's not only public school.

There was one guy who would park near the back entrance of Ewha University and have a tug in his car as the uni girls walked by.

First time I caught him, I walked up and knocked on the window. It took only seconds for him to let go of his 4-inch friend and squeal the tires in his haste to get out of there.

Second time I caught him, only a week later, I stood behind the car and wrote down his license plate number. He tore out of there like last time, and never came back (at least to that entrance) as long as I was taking classes there.

You should ask your elementary students. They'd tell you "The man who stands just outside the school fence watching us and masturbates every day."

And you thought the worst thing to happen to Burberry was chavs.

Same same for me at another women's university. Called the cops, but they couldn't do anything unless they caught him in the act.

My tugger and I had a brief exchange. I asked him what the f*@^ he was doing, and he nervously said he was "enjoying the scenery" on campus - gesturing to the tress above us. He tore out of there soon after as well, as soon as I got my cell phone out of my pocket.

It's not only "The man who stands just outside the school fence watching us and *beep* every day." When I was teaching in Korea, we had a class discussion one day about things that the students were afraid of. Most of them said the subway for two reasons; ghosts and coat men. They were very afraid of going into the subway by themselves and getting cornered by one of these 'upstanding' citizens 'exercising' his 'public right'.

That's really funny.

And yeah, flashers have a tendency to move up the food chain. They start as flashers and become bolder as they discover they can get away with things.

The American girl I worked with at PS HS saw this one day and went to the administration. All the female staff giggled and then it was dropped. She was furious, but welcome to the land of Sparkle!

Why don't we break out the stats on rape and molestation of Korean woman (and NO I'm not talking about by Non-Koreans), and the stats on convictions of Korean males overseas -- what's the most common offense, pray tell? The Burberry man ain't shit.

But of course, we have the Korean equivalent of don't ask don't tell, when it comes to women's issues -- none of them will admit to anything, and we aren't to speak of these things, no matter how severe the problem, for fear that it will tarnish the reputation of Korea and Koreans.
