Anyone done this? Advice, tips, is it worth it?

2 or 3 days in Macau?! A day is quite enough! I believe there are ferries that leave at around 7am?

Macau's a great day trip. You don't need to spend longer; it's a tiny place. As for the ferries, if you're at all prone to motion sickness, dose yourself with the appropriate medication before you leave. The water can be choppy. Last time I came back to HK from Macau I got horribly sick.

It is also fun just to wonder around Macau's backstreets. Lots of interesting buildings, history, sights and sounds. Go, you wont regret your time there.

Macau was nice, but when you get off the ferry, watch out for con artists who tell you you have to have a guide for sight-seeing. No, you don't. You can just walk out the taxi queue.

I was there for just a few hours, and I was in the area by the ruins of St. Paul. It was nice, but I couldn't find anything to eat other than freaking McDonald's. But at least they had these fruit mango drinks in there. Also, many of the sights are too spread out.

I don't agree w/a couple of posters that said one day is enough in Macau.

For a place of its size, there are many sights-historical buildings, cemetaries(one of the more interesting places to visit in E. Asia, IMHO), parks, restaurants(some can be pricey), shops, etc. Unlike Zhuhai(just across Macau on the mainland) you don't have to worry about pickpockets. Unlike HK, English is not widely spoken. Neither is Portuguese!

You can easily spend 3 days there.

Additionally, you can buy ticket and "massage" packages from many places in HK, if that's your thing... There's a great Portugese restaurant in that main alley street (nice alley with shops, not trash) that has some great chicken. Get there in the evening and watch the "ladies" troll for johns. Macau is a great break from the hustle and bustle of HK.
