|
|
Has anyone ever experienced any problems entering Korea with a one-way ticket? Sometimes a country will demand you have an exit ticket as well. Has this ever happened to anybody here?
I never did, but somebody else said they had been hassled at customs for this reason.
thanks. |

It you have residential status or a work visa you are NOT required to have an onward or return ticket.
IF you are coming over with the intent of entering on a visa waiver stamp you may have problems boarding the plane because the airline bears the cost of returning you home AND a substancial fine if you are refused entry or deported for any reason and you did not have an exit ticket.

Thanks--not sure what a visa waiver stamp is, though.
Two new teachers are coming to this school and they'll both have received their e-2 stamp in their passports--but no ARC cards yet, of course. The consulate-given visa stickers should be fine, right? |

Yes, thats fine. If they are entering the country having recieved E2 stamps in their passport, it won't be a problem. The 'proof of onward travel', when it does come up, is when one is entering Korea on a tourist visa.

They have their E-2 - then there will be no problems coming on a one way ticket |

I came with a one way ticket and no work visa. I had no problems. With a work visa, you are definitely OK. |

I came one way without a job once. In order to appease immigration, I had a reserved flight from Korea to Japan about 29 days after my flight to Korea. I was simply able to pay a 30,000 won fee to have the ticket to Japan refunded. No one ever asked to see my exit ticket. |

...at worst, your exit ticket can be your prepaid visa run ticket... an easy investment that will be paid back by any academy that wants you to work... |
