Just in case you want to read more about the wire:

What Do Real Thugs Think about The Wire?- NY Times

Nick Hornby interviews the creator of The Wire, David Simon

Tim Goodman (TV critic for SF Chron) gives his analysis of each episode of Season 5. So far obviously it just covers one episode so far.

I cheated and have already seen episodes 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. They are available on ISOhunt.com.
Thank you, the internet!
Oh...spoiler alert...turns out Dumbledore is a pillowbiter after all.

Just watched the 2nd episode. Excellent until the end. Think McNulty's action was too crazy, even by his standards.

I agree. That was certainly a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment. Maybe b/c he's realized that the BPD is second-rate and he doesn't give a crap anymore? I though he would have realized that a long time ago. Still I don't find it too believable. I also though that the "murdered blacks vs. murdered whites" conversation at the bar was a little stilted.

edit: I'm really getting sick of Bubbles as well.

It's good.

Just finished the 3rd episode... great.
I've downloaded episodes 5-7, but can't find episode 4 anywhere. Anybody have any luck downloading the pre-air version of episode 4 yet?

This was the first one this season where I was surprised it was over already and frustrated I couldn't immediately watch the next episode. A couple scenes outside Baltimore too, who would have thunk it?

I was completely floored by Lester helping McNutty out with his serial killer plan. It doesn't really seem to jive with his earlier clash w/ McNulty about Barksdale. Maybe he's just had enough.

Omar seemed like a happy guy, but you could tell his attitude changed as soon as he saw the guy coming on the bike.

Strangely I found it easier to believe Lester would go along with it than McNulty doing it to begin with. And I'm surprised McNulty actually thought people would care about homeless people being murdered. I thought he was more jaded/less naive than that.

What I found puzzling in this episode was Prop Joe's behaivor towards Marlo when he asked for clean money. Shouldn't that have sent a warning to Joe about what Marlo is trying to do?

I'm downloading ep. 4 as I type this from tvtorrents.com... sorry, it's a private site that you need an invite and I have none to spare. The good news is that Ep.4 will probably be up on public trackers (isohunt has the other leaked episodes i think) very soon. I wish I could have held out from watching 5-7 last night....
