One of my co-workers and I have been doing oral tests this week. Today between students the boss flung the door open and fired the co-teacher. He came back and apologized to me for having to finish the day on my own and said the police were coming to talk to the teacher about sexual harrassment.

I just hate it when that happens.

People get fired every day.

Sounds like you've got a good boss.

I give tenative kudos to the boss. This being Korea, I assume the sexual harrassment was something like heavy groping and not just, "I think that's a nice blouse, Susan."

Co-teachers are, by definition, Korean and they work at public schools, but we won't see an article trumpeting sexual harrassment by a Korean in the Korea Times.

Well I'm assuming this is a hagwon since public schools don't have bosses and most are on vacation though some do have camps. Now, did your co-teacher misunderstand the term 'oral test'?

Uhm, you're wrong, but then again, you're just a poor victim, aren't you? Oh, the white man's burden, it never ends in Korea.

Oh I got some great stories about scumbags in Thailand I've worked with and their disgusting antics .

At just the one ssme high school , I worked with this guy....yes his surname is Prowler ....

http://nyjtimes.com/cover/06-27-06/RoyalThaiPoliceCapturesUSPedophile.htm

Another teacher owned a go go bar and got fired for inviting high school students from our school to drink there with him .

I left that job pretty soon and took my next gig at an international school . A 67 year old teacher showed me his videos of a play he did at past school he'd worked at in morocco and kept making really creepy remarks about how gorgeous certain of the little girls were . 2 weeks later he was picked up for molesting a girl at school . I had mentioned to my head teacher about the guy before then , that I suspected him , but he was too busy getting boozed up and whoring and telling everyone about it to do anything or care .

Seriously man....you don't know what we have in Korea as teachers , and if you did you would never complain about the strict rules they have to teach here .

My fear is that sexual harassment is going to become the new 'catch-all' for firing foreign teachers: hard to prove; harder to disprove. In the end, the accused will just leave because the possible alternatives are too horrendous.

Further, there is no such thing as being truly innocent of such an accusation. That stain will follow one forever, no matter how unfounded the accusation.

Give us the details of your co-worker, jerkface!

Was it a Korean woman?

Most "co-workers" who teach with you are.

How can a woman sexually harass? Most guys love a good oral exam.

Anyway, can you give us more details, internet man?

I'm sure the guy was cool about it, but I bet his mum hit the f***ing roof when he went home and boasted that he'd got blown under the desk Embarassed

Ya-ta boy is a cool dude, he's also working right now. He usually has evenings off, and I bet he'll be back to give us more juicy details from home. Although he's never mentioned a co-teacher in the past to me, I think that the type of situation he works in dictates that it would be a Korean co-teacher he's talking about. His students are mostly male. I hope I didn't say too much here ya-ta. Let me know if you want me to edit anything out.
