Most stuff I can cook myself, but I know I'll really really miss Gaya brand Aloe drink, I go through at least a liter of the stuff a day and the ajumma at the local minimart laughs at me for buying so much of it.
That reminds me, I just ran out again Sad

I know what you mean, except I'm back in Canada, and the korean supa carries the stuff. i also heard that the Superstore has that SecSec orange juice. I love that stuff too....so don't fret, you may be able to find it if you don't live in too small a town...

I haven't missed anything in particular so far. What I miss more is the whole galbi/sam gyup sal type restaurant....eat big, drink big and pay very little....oh well.

I do miss the O-dang on the street though.... Very Happy Embarassed

Yep, same for me....wait, I DO the cooking. What's up mate, can't cook?

I do the non-korean food cooking. I'm an excellent cook - worked in resteraunts for 10 years.

No worries, just taking the piss.

Actually, you oughtta learn. Fortunately for me, I live with the in-laws and have been helping mother-in-law with cooking for 2 years now, so it's cool to have dinner ready when she gets home. Korean men in the family (extended too) don't care for that....pompous arses.

Shoosh,

Ryst

Oh, also grew up in kitchens...

My wife got a new job and now I do about 50% of the cooking - before she gets home. It sure makes her happy. I do need to buy an oven so that I can expand my repetoire of entrees

None of them. Aside from Dakalbi, which is essentially KFC with attitude, much of the rest is badly-treated, overcooked flesh served up with the same selection of boiled grasses. A lack of variety and imagination, which goes to the heart of this country as well. (The smoked chicken is an exception; I'm rather fond of that.) There's much fine cuisine on the planet; Korean food just doesn't qualify. If you've had one Korean meal, you've essentially had them all.

You may be able to get Korean foods in most north american cities but like western food here it does not compare as far as taste and quality.
Thats just par for the course.

I can't find dong-dong-ju anywhere in Vancouver. And I doubt you won't be able to either. And I seriously doubt your wife has ever made it or can learn how.
