I think Jongnoguru noted they'd get their ass beaten in Gangnam. That and maybe because of the big catholic church in Myeong Dong. Maybe trying to catch some people.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree, Troll_Bait. Yes, the first guy wins on visuals, I'll grant you that. But the second guy is far more globalized. He has incorporated English in his signage. He's making a multilingual effort to get the message out. I think that gains him a lot of points. I'm sure the Lord smiles when He sees English signs.

I don't think god wants rational people to do this. I think these guys could better spend their time at home with their families. If there is a god, I think raising kids right and taking care of your family is what a true loving god would want.

only see two guys who if they truly loved Jesus and their god, should be spending their time passing on that love to their grandkids. I'd bet neither of them are going to save a single soul on the streets of Seoul in the short time they have before the weight of their equipment cripples 'em. They are more likely, however, to save their own families with love and devotion.

MM2 says a lot of anti-christian stuff at times. But he's not wrong here. I would also be shocked if a single person converted due to this type of "evangelism." I would also be shocked if hundreds of people were not completely turned off to the message of the gospel due to these types of antics. Who's going to want to espouse the beliefs of a guy whose beliefs seem to make him angry, inconsiderate, maybe even hateful? But as MM2 implies, people would be much more likely to adopt the views of a man whose beliefs seem to make him a better worker, father, husband, friend.

for the record they have Korean-Mary Statues. Yep, a little asian Virgin Mary holding a little black haired Jesus. I think they are kind of cute, and Mary has a pink hanbok. And Myongdong Catholic Shop sells them.

That doesn't surprise me. I took some pics of a Korean nativity scene once on display at the Chamsil Lotte Hotel.

Religion is a waste of time, and talking about it tends to be an even bigger waste of time. I'm just here for the funny pictures.

If I had to pick a christian religion I'd choose to be mormon because I really see them leading from the front.

Once upon a time in a psych hospital far far away, there were two people who both claimed to be Napoleon. The doctors decided to run an experiment. What would happen if two deluded people both claimed to be the same historical person?

So it was asked. So it was done.

Both patients were put on the same ward and observations were made.

Very quickly, one of the patients, the 'weaker' of the two, decided he was Joseph Bounaparte (or whoever).

Conclusion: No two people can share the exact delusion of identity at the same time.

Never heard of that one but there was the case of the Three Christs of Ypsilanti.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Three_Christs_of_Ypsilanti

What the resolution was to this experiment, I can't find anything definitive. I remember hearing about this back in Abnormal Psych in university. The prof said each of the Christs simply concluded the other two were crazy, he was the sane one. Although a web page says the three adjusted their world view to allow for three Christs.

Most fundies do happen to believe whatever church they belong to has it 100% right in terms of doctrine and all the other churches range from slightly to grossly deluded. Oh, how lucky you just happened to live down the street from the one church in the world that has it 100% right!

Quote:
Box 3: The Three Christs Of Ypsilanti

In 1959 social psychologist Milton Rokeach brought together three schizophrenic patients in the same psychiatric ward in Ypsilanti, Michigan, all of whom suffered from the Messiah complex each believed he was Jesus Christ. Rokeach was interested in seeing whether these mutually exclusive delusions would interact and affect the extent of conviction and content of each patients delusional beliefs. In his book Rokeach (1964/1981) records how each patient dealt with this conflict, one by avoidance, one by relinquishing his delusion and the other by attributing the identity claims of his compatriots to mental illness.Whilst this study would be considered ethically dubious today, it was one of the most original forays into the study of psychopathology where the explicit aim was to inform normal belief processes.

So it seems that one was cured of his Messiah Complex, another concluded that the other two were crazy, and the last reacted by putting his hands over his ears and saying, "LalalalaIcan'thearyoulalalalaIcan'thearyou ..."

The quotation is from the authorized version, also known as the King James Bible, which does not capitalize pronouns except to begin a sentence.

I find it interesting this article mentions the ethical problems. In psychology when you study behaviorism, there's a classic experiment that would get you locked in jail today. But never once did I ever read about the ethics of teaching a baby to be scared of furry things. Never once did I even hear a professor mention the ethical problems. Here's an example:

Quote:
John Watson and Rayner conditioned a baby (Albert) to be afraid of a white rabbit by showing Albert the rabbit and then slamming two metal pipes together behind Albert's head. The pipes produced a very loud, sudden noise that frightened Albert and made him cry. Watson did this several times (multiple trials) until Albert was afraid of the rabbit. Previously he would pet the rabbit and play with it. After conditioning, the sight of the rabbit made Albert scream -- then what Watson found was that Albert began to show similar terrified behaviours to Watson's face. What Watson realized was that Albert was responding to the white beard Watson had at the time. So, the fear evoked by the white, furry, rabbit had generalized to other white, furry things, like Watson's beard. Behaviourism overall is a good scientific theory

Sadly I found out that I am not christian since I am a catholic. My students earnestly told me this and said I could come to their church and become a christian.

I love Korea sometimes.
