Lesson being...don't mess with thai's in thailand. walking street is no more dangerous than any other red light district anywhere in the world, and considering the nature of the place it's surprising there isn't a lot more violence related incidents. I've seen a couple of good beatings of farangs in thailand, every one of them deserved what they got. |

more than 15 men set-upon the three Estonian Men. |
And that's the way these things always play out.
More and more foreigners are getting murdered by Thais.
Face it, the Thais hate farang and only see them as walking ATM machines. 99% of them can't stand us. The Thai men beat the sheit outta their women too. They're real pigs. |

I spent some time in pattaya over xmas, pretty much mau the whole time and didn't feel the least bit threatened or concerned for my well being. It's not everyone's cup of tea, if you want to end up face down in a pool of your own blood it can be quite easily arranged, just go there and be a jackass and it will happen. |

Way back in 1994, some friends and I were in BKK for a weekend out. After a long night we went into a small restaurant-style shop to down some water. The time was about 2:30AM. After sitting down and ordering water, which the host seemed disturbed about, he brought out a whole string of prostitutes. We declined. This ticked off the guy even more. We went to settle out bill and he attempted to charge up $50 for 3 small bottled waters. We decided to pay him $10, and made our way to the door. Now keep in mind, this is a restaurant, not some fishbowl or seedy ho-house... We walked out and the man followed us. He was yelling and waving his fists in the air. A few seconds later, about 5 Thai men started after us. In their hands were, what appeared to be, knives, bats, and other devices of bodily harm. The chase ensued, much as you would imagine in a Hollywood film, with us being chased through back alleys, jumping fences and dodging traffic. Finally, we managed to escape, not so much for our ability to evade them, but their unwillingness to pursue us for longer than 5 minutes. Had they caught up with us, there's no doubt they would have used the items in their hands. They take on mob mentality, so beware. Land of smiles, but keep your wits about you. |

In the 15 years that I have been coming to Asia , I have been in Thailand exactly one night. Even on that trip; which was a visa run from Taiwan, I went to Chang Rai for the night had dinner with a friend there and later racked up a whopping 500 baht bill in a lame karoke bar then went back to my hotel. I think half of that charge was from those lei that I my affirmative gestures kept buying. I think each song was a few baht also.
After reading a few stories here, I am glad it was just that one night. |

These guys were just drinking water; and were being ripped off. Were they supposed to pay fifty bucks for three waters just to keep the peace? |

If you were in Thailand for only one night, I doubt that you were in Chang Rai, which is way the heck up north. |

I arrived in Thailand , took a plane to Chang Rai-stayed there the night and came back the next morning. Then I went back to Taiwan.
Never left the airport in Bangkok except to fly to Chang Rai. |

the majority of farangs getting the crap kicked out of them in LOS are loud, abnoxious, rude, insensitive troublemakers. i've spent a lot of time in Patts and have never witnessed any violence, however it certainly does exist.
i personally steer clear of walking street most of the time as stunners and coyotes are not my style. i much prefer the company at some of the smaller beer bars along 2nd road and naklua.

There's nothing quite like dropping an E, heading into one of the better walking street gogo bars and drinking champagne with the hottest chicks in the place. Believe me, i did it like 6 times my last visit, can make for an expensive night though, well if you call 10 000 baht all up expensive. Also the "regular" clubs on/near walking street can be pretty good, insomnia being the best. |

Sure was. It was a visa run from Taiwan. I just needed to exit and re-enter Taiwan. |
