It's my first time going to Korea and with all the new regulations and whatnot...I'm starting to get worried about getting my visa in time!

Has anyone received their visa confirmation number or any other information about when we will receive them?

I hate not being able to buy a plane ticket yet, but I don't feel all too comfortable buy a ticket with everything so up in the air.

Thanks!

Nope. GEPIK stands for:

Geyounggi doh
English
Program
In
Korea

If you want a public teaching job in Seoul you need to apply to SMOE

Seoul
Metro
Office of
Education

Actually, you apply to ETIS (English Teachers In Seoul) a department of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

I too am in the same boat, no definate till today as to when I will receive the appt. letter or what to expect in the next 3 weeks ahead. Has anyone been given an orientation date?

Just the other day I was told by my recruiter that the GEPIK board has released a new application and that I needed to now fill this new one out and FEDEX it to them, anyone else experienced this?

Cheers

No word about a new application. I filled out the one for 2008-2009 so I assume it should be good.

My recruiter just told me everything looked good and she'll let me know anything I need to know when the time comes.

Lovely. That helps a lot. I'm here on pins and needles because I put my life on hold so I can leave and I'm just worried I'm going to get a call saying i got my visa denied or something.

I was told by my recruiter that many officials here in Korea make very last minute decisions not fully fathoming the impact.

Its a tough time waiting to know and all I know is that if it happens its going to be rush, rush, rush and out of here.

When I "accepted" the job through my recruiter, she said I will be placed in the Goyang City/Ilsan area. I really want Ilsan, but I'll take what I can get.

However, I can guess I can be placed anywhere since the contract doesn't state an exact location....

Who knows. I just want my visa already! Very Happy

Does anyone have any idea what kind of questions they ask at the interview? How should we be prepared for it, what not to say etc. Also, if someone can list the documents we need to take?

Cheers,
Zion
