|
|
The blizzard in China this winter has got me thinking.
How can Korea become 'world class' as far and its infrastructure is concerned.
It's already got a pretty good transporation, with PT drivers and passenger vehicles that could come online in case of emergency.
Water works, including filtration, are well equipped and maintained.
My ideas:
Magnetic rail - Korea's rails are aging.
Wider sewer pipes - keeps entities from having to dig them up and change them every year or so. Keeps us from putting toilet paper in wastebaskets. |

I think Korea's infrastructure is excellent, far superior to that of the UK or the US.
All Korea needs now to lift it up to the level of infrastructure Heaven currently enjoys is a massive canal network.
(Only because I want to ride a bicycle along a towpath all the way to Busan without riding on any of those pesky roads.) |

better recycling programs ( like japan's )
more consumer protection laws ( i.e. mandatory prices on all products, credit card surcharges )
women's equality rights like US, Canada and Europe
Better Business Bureau
better health & safety practices for restaurants
more training and tests for all Korean drivers ( Red light does not mean slow down! ) |

I'm suddenly in favor of this wacky canal idea... |

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of infrastructure

infrastructure
Main Entry:
infrastructure Listen to the pronunciation of infrastructure
Pronunciation:
\ˈin-frə-ˌstrək-chər, -(ˌ)fr-\
Function:
noun

1: the underlying foundation or basic framework (as of a system or organization)2: the permanent installations required for military purposes3: the system of public works of a country, state, or region; also : the resources (as personnel, buildings, or equipment) required for an activity |
I would suggest a revamp of the electrical wiring system purely for aesthetic reasons. Put all those ugly wires underground |

Do they even have an entity such as OSHA in the U.S?
This would apply to hospitals here which are often over-crowded and tainted with staph-infecting bacteria.
Get ajummas with real mops and proper buckets. |

Definately put the power and telephone cables underground where possible. They are ugly and their presence requires all the street trees to be butchered every couple of years. |

They could hire a non-retard to redesign the traffic system and possibly eliminate all those stupid u-turns. The inefficient traffic flow is half the problem, the other half being the drivers but who can fix that? |

Maybe it really isnt a bad idea.
Korea's good at manipulating the landscape & its kind of a legoland already. Punching a canal tunnel through a mountain -- no problem! Keeps a considerable bunch of laborers busy too.
Korea could end up with a world-class recreation corridor (alongside clean & efficient shipping).
Its not like theres a lot of pristine wilderness would be compromised. Its a small peninsula with a mega population. Why not think bold? |

In other words, a mega-Chungyecheon? |
