Hello everyone. I've just hooked my iBook G4 and my PC (Windows XP) up to a print server (Buffalo LPV3-U2). I managed to get both machines to recognise the printer through the print server, but after that I get a small problem.

The PC prints fine, but the Mac spits out pages and pages of stuff that looks like source code for even the shortest and simplest of sample texts.

Can anyone tell me how to get things back to normal? Incidentally, both the PC and the Mac printed just fine when hooked up to the printer individually (i.e., not through the print server).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What exactly is a print server? is this a router for printers, i.e. your computers and printer are networked?

Right. Specifically this.

Additional: I think I've got to the nub of the matter. It seems the printer I use (HP officejet 6150) does not support PostScript.

Is there any way to get around this?

it doesn't support postscript? I thought that was standard.

In any case have you tried uninstalling and the reinstalling the printer.

if that doesnt' work remove and the re-add the printer to the network

do the same for your individual computers

finally remove everything uninstall the printer, create the network again, install the printer and hopefully it works.

All of the above are what i would try, but not having had your problem I'm not sure which one would work or if there is a better solution.

Thanks for that, SuperHero. I don't think it does support postscript. Among other things pointing to that conclusion, when you bring up the list of PostScript-supporting printers under Printer Setup Utility > Print and Fax > Set Up Printers, the whole officejet series is absent.

Can I ask another question: The instructions say something to the effect that "the Post Script output mode of your Mac must be set to ACSII or Binary" (sorry, I'm translating as I go along here...) Where can I look to check if that is set correctly?

All help appreciated.
