I posted on here yesterday about problems I was having getting my degree certificate back from a recruiter.
I had to send my original because I was unemployed and could not afford the train fare down to london or the fees to get a certified copy made.
I have found a school independently of this recruiter and have asked her to send my degree certificate to this school. She is trying to charge them 1.2 million won recruiter fees for the priveledge, which they, for obvious reasons, are not willing to pay.
Immigration will not accept a university certified 'original' copy. They want the original original if you know what I mean.
The school are now talking about interviewing other people.
I read on another post that there is some kind of board you can appeal to in Korea who will try and make her hand my certificates back?
If anyone know what this board is and how I get in contact with them can they please let me know A.s.a.p.
Thank you! |

A good way to start things rolling is by threatening to print the recruiters name on every ESL website you can find. Also let him or her know that you are ordering a new degree from your university and their illegal actions will not only ruin his/her reputation, but it will also fail miserably.
Just tell your College that your degree was lost. They should be able to send you a replacement copy although it will cost some money and take some time. |

You could also give the name of this recruiter to the Embassy here. A phone call directly to him/her from your Embassy would most likely go a long way. They will obviously do it if your passpot is withheld from you. It is worth a call to see if they can help get your certificate back.
Good luck. |

Don't take no crap from these bastards. Call the embassy, call the lawyers up in Seoul - do whatever it takes. Get every attorney from Tokyo to Tapaii on them. They tried to play me for a small town rube from Canada once and I showed them.....
But yeah, I agree - a call from the consulate will likely do the trick. Be sure to name names as well once you get your degree back. I'm actually in the same boat as you - my boss don't want to give me mine back. I think I might just take it back if he doesn't part with it soon and see what happens. That window from the directors office into the teachers office goes both ways after all.
Good luck. |

Thanks for all your advice/ ammunition! I sent her an e-mail asking how I should get my certificate back and she sent me an e-mail back saying if I had lost the job she had another one for me that would be better than that job anyway! I have sent her a curt e-mail back saying I no longer want to do buisness with her and to send me my certificate asap. I will wait for the response from that (which will either be nothing or No!) before I take further action. Then I will do all of the above and she will wish she'd paid the school for taking my degree certificates and not the other way hee hee!! |
