99% of the time i eat out alone and i never have any problems. people dont bat an eyelash at my waygookness.
maybe a lot of you in this topic thread are in areas w/ few foreigners?
the one thing i do notice which really annoys me is that i rarely get kimchi with my meals meanwhile ill look around and see that everyone else, or most other people were given kimchi. maybe the restaurants think that im a tenderfoot foreigner who hates hot food, but i dont know why they would think that if i ordered dok-po-gee or mae-un-tang to start off with? its too bad cause i love kimchi. |

Hmm.. I don't recall ever NOT getting kimchi.
One step further.. on non-kimchee items (pizza, spaghetti, etc).. I don't recall ever NOT getting pickles served with it either.. |

| My korean has really been improving in the last few months and for me the main hazard of going out is that now I can hear the guys at nearby tables calling me a filthy foreigner, a monkey, a son of a dog, and her a *beep*, not a real Korean. This has happened three times in the last month, and one time the guys deliberately bumped my girl so hard as they left that she fell out of her seat. It seems to really rile the males up that I'm out eating with a Korean girl. |

You know, I have no idea where most of you guys keep running into the Korean asshats at. I've only ever had one drunken Korean do something stupid to me, and he was blind drunk, could barely walk, and bounced off the walls after bouncing off of me. He was three apples tall, and if he was trying to start a fight, he had an odd way to go about it, what with him stumbling away from me. |

| Hey, I went out to eat almost everyday during my sojourn in Korea. I found the service to be excellent, as was the food. And when the people got to know me, it even got better. When informed of my departure, I recieved gifts and free meals. Would this happen anywhere else? |

I live in Seoul dude, as you know, and it does seem to be worse than the other two smaller places I lived. What's more I live in a part of Seoul with very few foreigners, go weeks without seeing any in my area so maybe that has something to do with it. In any case these guys don't seem to be into starting fights, it's different from your drunken agoshi experience, they just want to mouth off, and they don't think I understand them. Actually I'm used to it now, so calling it a hazard is maybe exagerating, just thought it was something that should go in this thread. I'm more excited by the fact that I can understand their insults than unnerved by it, heading into my third year it's a bit harder to shock me here! |

my friend (who is korean-american) said that she was in a place like that in the states and they brought out meat with a lotta fat. her dad asked for one with less fat and they were like "that's the best part!"
so i guess that's probably what the lady was thinking lol~ |
Yea, the word of the day is that Koreans love fatty. Fatty meat is good meat. I wouldn't have a clue in the world why, but yea... |
