For someone renewing at the same public school, does the health check have to be done before renewing or can it be done after?

I think is at the same time. Just go to your doc. and he/she will update the information and give you a new stamped form.

Just had my school present me with a form that states my request to renew with them. It included a section about health and criminal check. The medical question:

How would you rate your health:

poor ___ good ___ excellent ___

The criminal question:

Have you ever been arrested or convicted of a criminal acts or for drug use"

yes ___ no___

If "yes" explain the details below.

Statement: I acknowledge that the above statements are true and promise to provide the high school with proof regarding my health and criminal record if requested to do so.

Date: _______________

Name___________________ Signature_______________

There were a few lines under it for Office use, but pretty straight forward.

Not sure where my school got the form, but I told them is they requested a CRC I would get one from a Korean police station since I have lived here for the past four years, OR if they wanted a USA CRC, they would have to pay for it themselves. They were okay with that and said nothing more about it after I signed and turned it in.

I am sure you can postpone the actual health check until after the term begins in March when most of the Korean teachers have to get their annual exam. That is what I have done for the last two contracts.

Then you'd have to make your own self category which surpasses excellent, like;

How would you describe your health?

Poor______Good_______Excellent_______Super gung-ho Commando Educator Never Stops Never Quits Never Tires Always Number One!!!!__X____

Very Happy

Seeing as it's Korea, and knowing how much they like to respond to everything with this, I was going to go with 'So-So'.

If you renew before March 15 you do NOT need a medical or CRC.

You can renew up to 60 days before the expiry of your ARC so if your ARC expires before May 15 you can renew up to Mar.15 and skip the nonsense.

Just to give you a definitive answer.

I renewed on Tuesday, Feb 12. I needed my:

new contract
ARC
passport
application
fee (30k for the extension and 50k for the re-entry permit).

copy of the schools registration
Shin won bo jung saw (sponsorship form) - 신원보증 is what is written on the top of the form.

The extension process took about 15 minutes AFTER I got to the counter (there was a long lineup - 2 hours).

.
