all the mods have socks and they're having way more fun than us anyways. |
I guess I missed the "fun" boat.
At this point I count 4 against/for Christian threads in the forum. Debating is ok, but if any more appear they'll be banished. |
isn't "banished" a word used mostly by monarchs? |
Spot on laddie. |
by using the word "laddie" are you implying that you are a scottish monarch, therefore soon-to-be-totally-conquered-and-colonized? |

Look, I'm as atheist as the next guy. And I don't mind laying out a lot of criticism of the beliefs of the folks that believe in this supernatural nonsense.
But the purposefully made Christianity-bashing threads are getting a bit out of hand. And it's getting lamer than a American vs Canadian, or a Western women vs Korean women thread.
So, I ask that everyone, you know, keep it in their pants or something. It's making everyone here look like a retard. |
i adhere and totally agree with the G.
religion is a very personally emotional, humanistic and indeed intellectual experience in anybody's life. to blindly propose and so arrogantly post to invite to have one's religious beliefs subject to the critical scrutiny of others' who cling to faithful dogmas that are so in militant opposition, on such an ethically diverse forum as this, is just a narrow-minded, preposterous blunder.
save it for sunday church, friday synagogue, morning prayers at mosques, burning incense for Vishnu whenever or athetistic guitar strumming for freedom at bad poetry readings... please.
oh, rock on G, and faithfully stick to your own strings, artistic pagan... |

Ezekiel 7:2 says the world is flat and has four corners. Matthew (4 . 8 ) says that the devil kidnaped Jesus and took him up to the top of the temple, and then to the top of an exceedingly high mountain, high enough to see "all the kingdoms of the world" (the world was flat in those days, see?). 1 Chronicles 16.30 says the Earth does not revolve on its axis or orbit the Sun. Job (9.6) says the earth rests upon pillars and doesn't move, as does Micah 6.2 advocate the earth rests upon foundations.
Check this out! According to Matthew (24.29) Jesus stated his belief that the moon produces its own light, and that the stars are lights only a few miles above our heads. Why wasn't God incarnated as a man aware that the moon reflects light from the sun and it would take the nearest star to us 4.2 years to fall to us (and many stars are millions of light years away)? Isaiah 13.10 also says the moon produces its own light.
Here's God's advice for what to do with someone who believes in another deity:
That's what I call retarded.
Look, Christians can believe what they like, but stop opposing significant medical potential because of your imaginary celestial genocidal maniac. Stop indoctrinating children (let them grow up and decide what they think based on the evidence). Ban faith schools. Stop teaching ancient scripture as though it were as true as modern scientific fact. Muslims, can you kindly stop killing Israelis? Israelis, can you kindly dispense with the bring-on-the-messiah-via-Armageddon idea? Religion should be subjected to rigorous, ceaseless mockery. To be silent is to consent.

there are people want to facilitate the armageddon. they look forward to the destruction of this planet so they can be with god in heaven.
such is just bonkers, nuts. they want all of us dead so they can go to heaven.
they have lists of what needs to be acheived to reach the final judgement and are working to complete the checklist because such is god's work. yikes. |

Eternally pushing the most raw of biblical quotations as emblematic of modern and reformed Judeo-Christianity, eh?
I judge the merits of your efforts by the success of your conversions. Yes, there's actually an entire thread devoted to how pointless your rants are. Congratulations. |

You don't get it and never will. There's no such thing as modern and reformed judeo-Christianity. Jews and Christians posit three incredibly offensive ideas simultaneously: (a) individuals can be holier than others, (b) such holy individuals are the offspring of a celestial dictator running a stalinist regime (the severest conception of totalitarianism), (c) the basis of our morality is sucking up to said dictator (otherwise, murder, rape and theft would all be kosher were it not for said dictator).
Please don't patronize people by trying to say - as you have said previously - that the New Testament is all about love and peace. It is not, and one need only cite Saint Paul plumb the sickening depths of original sin - a wretchedly bad, morally debased idea.

Got a theistic interpretation of dinosaurs and their ancestors?
It's so easy to debunk these miserably base and vulgar ancient religions. Jesus thought the moon produced its own light. That makes him a dufus, not divine.

Is there? I haven't seen it. If you're referring to this one, you're wrong. |

There would not be an aggressive backlash against religion if the drones had not inserted their religion into my life. Once that is done, the stupidity of their ideas become my problem.
To the religions types: If you want your "faith" to be left alone, then keep it away from government and keep it totally private. Back away from gay marriage, abortion, stem cells, "faith based" programs of any kind, religious schools and the rest. If you can't do that, then expect the pushback to get stronger and stronger and stronger. |
