Well I have been doing and re-doing everything the korean govt says and re-says to do for the last month and will hopefully be flying out of SF to Korea on sat. Just to let everyone know what happened with my consulate interview so it may help, it has been a nightmare. I signed a K with my school 3 weeks ago, sent all the info to korea, called my local consulate (which is 1,000 miles away) and they informed me all i needed was my visa number and some documents for them to issue my visa. Well...I got approved friday from Korea called the consulate and they said they have changed their minds ALL prospective e-2 visa applicants must come to have an in person interview. I luckily scraped enough money for a flight to san francisco and hotel. I interview on wed and they promised the visa by friday so my school is flying me out on sat. This has been a sort of a nightmare so far, I thought that the Koreans would be stoked to get a law school grad teaching their kids but it seems like they are trying to keep me out.

Did you say before that it's a hagwon or a public school job?

don't worry, it doesn't have anything to do with you, it's the consulates, they don't know much of what's going on with these visa regs

It is a hagwon in changwon. I have a friend that has taught and is going to teach again in Korea and loves it so I hope once I get there things will get better. I am just scared the consulate is going to find something wrong and im going to eat the plane ticket and hotel in san francisco not to mention the money and time I have put into applying and packing.

I actually talked about my experience last week at the SF consulate in my post here:

Hope it helps ease your mind.
