after repeated attemps to rid the apartment of them, 5 bombs, 1 packet of floor traps and numerous sprays the little fuckers are still around!
anyways somebody told me you could get a wall plug-in that sends out a signal through the electrical wires in the house that they can't stand....then they pack up and leave (hopefully!)
anyway have tried to find it at the local pharmacies but to no avial! anybody know where I can pick one up?????
thanks |

Do a very complete job of cleaning every surface in your apt. Clean EVERYWHERE, under the refrigerator, behind the refrigerator, under your sink, all your cabinets, EVERYTHING. Then do a second cleaning using a solution of water (aprox 1 gallon) with 1 or 2 capfuls of bleach. Use this bleach solution everytime you clean.
Also, do not leave any standing water anywhere in your place. Dry your sinks and bathroom floors after using them. My first place in Korea was built in 1920 and was infested with roaches. Turn on a light and have a roach run up your arm. Pull back the bed covers and watch the roaches scurry away. I spent around 12 hours cleaning one Saturday and followed the above schedule. Never saw another roach or their droppings again. |

Go to the pharmacy and get some packages of Boric Acid -- it comes in a little carboard box, about the size of a pack of cards, and should cost less than 1,000 won. Write the name on a piece of paper and the pharmacist should be able to help you find it. 3 boxes was more than enough to "treat" my 25 pyoung apartment.
In the box will be a little plastic bag with white powder that looks like laundry detergent -- boric acid is used to make an eye-wash solution. It is safe to touch, and even ingest a bit, though I wouldn't recommend eating it -- just saying it is safer than bug bombs or sprays.
Sprinkle the powder all along the baseboards and under the fridge -- anywhere the roaches may run. Put it in the corners and all along the base of the wall in the rooms where you see them most often. If you vacuum/sweep it up, reapply so that there is always some sitting there -- should be done with roaches in about a week.
No fumes, no pesticides, a kid/dog/cat could eat some of the powder without ill effect (though a double fistfull for a kid would get me to call poison control). I learned this trick in Texas, and had to get rid of the roaches when I first moved in to my current place -- one week of powder along the walls and haven't seen a roach (or a carcass) since. Pretty cheap, too. |

I have heard about the powder, the sprays, the roach poison baits etc. Glue traps AKA roach motels also work alright or so I've heard. I have only had one problem with roaches and that's when i was in Japan and the first night I walk in to be "welcomed" by some scurrying friends. Like suggested earlier, a very good cleaning helps drive them away and a few poison traps is usually enough to rid the ones that wish to remain.
I think that electronic signal thing you were talking about may have been for mosquitoes. Either my coworker misunderstood when i first asked her about them, or I remember incorrectly, but I think she had said that there are some electronic devices used for driving away mosquitoes. |

| Go to the pharmacist and get borric acid. It should be powder or something you can grind into powder. Mix with water and apply it (liquid) to places you know the little fukers like to go. They groom themselves and ingest it. It kills them. Another roach eats the dead one and dies. Give it 2/3 weeks and they are gone. |

Make sure they're not coming in under the door or anything.
In one place I used to live they laid eggs behind the kitchen cabinet, once I sprayed so much Raid at the crack where the top of the cabinet met the wall that the Raid dripped down and killed the eggs I didn't have so much of a problem... |
