Guest English Teachers? GETs? Looks like they are trying to dumb down their program. I wonder when they'll put the three year cap on like JET, and call us ALTs. How's Hong Kong these days?

I see nothing in the link provided.

Could you quote the clause to which you have some objection?

Yea, I saw that in the contract.

GETs? Well, I guess they are starting to realize that we're not all qualified to be "native," whatever that means.

Take your pick, "guest" has a more negative or positive connotation.

That title's always been changing I think. I was called a NSET last year, this year I think I'm called something else. It gives the people upstairs something to do and makes them look productive enough to keep their jobs.

I was just hoping that in the future the program might take a turn towards the better in terms of attracting qualified people and rewarding them for staying on. Instead it appears they are moving towards Japan's JET program, where the foreigner is a robot.

I'm still waiting for the maximum salary to go up.

I still don't see a problem.

Recruiters are being asked to recruit quality personnel and then follow up.

When I was managing computer integration projects a few years back I
expected the recruiters that were sending me talent to send good
qualified engineers, and when I got substandard talent I held the recruiter
responsible. When a bad apple showed up the recruiter was notified the
recruiter did the firing and the recruiter ate the days wages.

As far the GETS moniker what is wrong with that gusest english teacher is
not much worse than native english teacher or foriegn english teacher.

Lets find something with real substance to complain about.
