I've just moved to Itaewon this past weekend (tired of commuting into Seoul from Seognam and my new apartment rocks) and it's a bit surreal actually living in the area, but so far so good.

What I'm interested in is for anyone who knows the area well, what are good out of the way restaurants/bars/stores/whatever. I've been in the Seoul area for years so I know all of the well known places. What I'm looking for is the places off the beaten track like Manila Bay (the Philippino place by the used furniture store past Noksapyeong Station).

I'm near the top of the hill that's between Nokapeyong and Itaewon stations, so stuff around there I'm especially interested in. The street with all the the third world embassies on the way to Namsan Park seems to get pretty pricey, but I know there's some good/cheap places around somewhere in the back streets. What's around?

It's in Haebongchon, past Noksapyeong Station. You can get duck fetuses there Smile

Try the Waffle Factory. It's a little ways down from Thunder Burger. I had a waffle breakfast set comprising bacon, sausage, eggs and waffles with three extra strips of bacon for 13,000 won.

Waffle Factory does have good dessert waffles.

There's also a place that has good, inexpensive beef calbi. The sign says something like "Well-Being Bu-Dae-Jjigae" in Hangeul, with white signs around the place saying they're closed Sunday.
Near Istanbul, Buddha's Belly and Waffle Factory, across from Haebangchon around Noksapyeong station, at the bottom of the Jung-Ang-Kyeong-Ridan hill.

Damn that's expensive. Go to Philly's instead, they've got a huge breakfast special for under a man won that includes a drink and stuff a good bit cheaper than that too. Go past the army base away from Noksapyeong and take a right.

Ah, had their pork galbi the other week. Not bad.

Phillies is OKAY, but I'd rather pay the few extra thousand won for the Waffle Factory.

Also try Aussie Pub & Grub up the hill near the entrance of Itaewon.
