Not much. Just so happens though that I had ramien at work today. Maybe on average once every two months to once a month. I don't know. I had it twice so far this month. I think. Once at Kangnam terminal and what I just told you.

I love ramyeon.

A few nights about my boyfriend was telling me that in the military, ramyeon was "a very precious food." Apparently they'd have to sneak around when eating it. They'd poke a hole in the foil, put in "tea water," let it cook in the packet, then eat it.

He was so damn serious about this food and how "precious" it was. I couldn't stop laughing.

Then he told me they could buy cigs 90% off when they were in the military. I've gotta double check that, it sounds crazy. Then again...this is Korea.

back when i was a starving student i used to buy it by the master case. while it was cooking up i'd toss in some frozen vegetables and put the mix on cabbage leaves. ate the heck out of that stuff. quick and cheap. over time the ramen has been eased out of the mix. i never opened the flavor packs.

Atavistic, I'd believe your guy about the cigarettes. According to my students, in the late 90s/early 2000s, draftees had the option to get a few crates of cigarettes in lieu of their monthly stipend, which might've been 20,000W.

As for the actual thread subject- I never eat ramyeon, less for health reasons than the memories of being a student and deciding my financial priorities were textbooks, beer and maybe then food. Embarassed

Yeah, I asked several times if he had his numbers backwards, but he said he didn't. His English is very good, so I think he's right. He said that the gov't supports the tobacco industry.

The conversation was short, so I intend to ask more this weekend.

As a soldier, I ate it about every other day but now maybe once every other week. But it's gotta be the package deal 'cause I can't stand the stuff prepackaged in a bowl or cup. The idea of eating food cooked in styrofoam sickens me and I can't imagine how it isn't even more damaging to your health.

Tastes good, but it's junk. Makes me loose in the basement. No more than once a month.

It's too expensive for me.

I just eat sand and gravel.

The kids like it too with a sprinkling of shredded wood or sawdust.
