Spring Classic Ball Hockey Tournament
Well I have been thinking, now that the weather is getting a little nicer I want to put a ball hockey
tournament on. I am a player on the Incheon Iceholes and want to extend the inviation to anyone who
wants to play. Now most guys won't have goalie equipment, I have talked to two friends who both have
goalie gear and are willing to lend it for the day for a small price, so if your team needs to borrow goalie
gear you can but you might have to pay an extra 10 000 or 20 000W on top of your team fee.
Right now the early plans are as follows:
What
-3 on 3 ball hockey (possibly 4 on 4 if more people perfer as it is a fairly large surface) plus a goalie
-Teams will be gauranteed at least 3 games which will either be 30 or 40 mintues in length
-It will be a round robin, with the top two teams advancing out of the two groups and playing a semi-final, then a final.
-If there are 6 teams then the top team in each group gets a by past the first round of playoffs and meets the winner of the 2nd vs. 3rd
place teams in the other division, followed by a final.
-All games will have a ref
When
- Any Saturday in April. If you are interested email me what weekends are best for you and your team.
-The tournament will probalby run from 9 or 10am until 4 or 5pm (so lots of time for beers afterwards and
during the day!)
Where
- Yet to be determined. I want to get a surface a close to central Seoul as possible. I have a Korean friend who
is helping me organize the tournament and is making some calls. Right now the best option i've found is a rink near Ogeum
Station on Line 5, it has a nice surface and is available all through april and the floor isn't too expensive, which means a larger
pot. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
Costs
-100 000 - 150 000W fee per team (depending on what rink we book and if 6 or 8 teams commit)
The Pot
I will not make any money off this, that is not my intention, I usually organize something similar to this at home and it is always
a great day. The pot will be all money left over after costs are covered it should be somethign like this:
8 teams x 120 000W = 1 200 000
8 to 9 hours of rink x 60 000/hour = 510 000
Renting 2 sets of goalie equpiment for the day = 100 000
Ref fees = 100 000W (guessing)
Pot = (approximately) 500 000
There are two options I can think of with the pot (option 1 finalist wins money back and winner takes the rest, or option 2 winner takes all)
IF YOU ARE INTERSTED
Please let me know if you will try to put a team together, I am going to spread the word around this week and if I get enough
responses of interested people in a weeks time i'll start solidifying things.
If you are definately interested and have a have a team ready email me and I will give teams a spot based on who has emailed me the earliest.
I will then set a date ( for about 2-3 weeks time to wire money to my account, teams that have emailed me first will have first chance, if those teams
don't wire the money on time, other teams will take your spot)
The tournament will be set as long as we get at least 6 teams (any less and all the money will be wired back to your accounts)
If a team pays and drops out 50% of the teams fee will be refunded.
PLEASE EMAIL ME ANY CONCERNS OR IF YOU ARE INTERESTED OR HAVE A TEAM YOU WANT TO REGISTER AT:
If you are interested in playing but can't get a full team together email me and i'll put you in touch with other players that are in the same boat, and you can possibly put together a free agent team.
Also if you really want this tournament to work, forward this to any people who might be interested in Korea that you know.

| Haha, yeah i've only been here a year, but have lost to the chiefs the last two games. Turns out our team enjoys bars over gyms hence we always seem to fall apart in the 3rd period and blow the game haha. Hopefully the Chiefs put in a few teams, I'd put my money on the top 5 Iceholes vs the top 5 Chiefs! |

Muahahahahaha, the top 5 Chiefs are all Junior 'A' hockey players, including the goalie. |

There is a GIANT roller hockey league in eastern Seoul. There are, in total, over 100 teams. |

That's great... do you have any concrete info on it? "eastern Seoul" is kind of a large area. |

| Well, they don't always play in the same place, hence the easter Seoul. I know some games are in and around the sports complex station. I will try to get more info when I talk to my buddy who plays in the league. Until then, stay tuned. |
