THis is getting old. You post articles but don't actually comment or respond to anything. You articles have no meaning and are out of context particulary since you do not include a commentary.

This article for instance talks about 2 income household making an average of 3.2 million won. Most teachers in Korea are single and make well over 1/2 of the average so what is your point.

Keep all your pointless ramblings to one thread please.

You know not such a long while ago someone asked the question on this board "is two million won a good salary for a Korean?" and so many people said yes it is a top salary, I said it wasn't (and eventually it turned into another flame war). the point here being that most of the people on this board don't know what is really going on. And some who do have the own financial motives for making infomericals for the Korean ESL industry.

Anyway I think RR's post was very useful for telling us how we stand in comparison with the average Korean. I would also guess that the real income for Koreans is higher than that and lets not forget those figures include all the junk jobs in Korea. And on top of this Koreans get real promotions. And have the freedom to play the market for the best job unlike ESL teachers who are tied to their employers who don't pay the market rate.

Anyway I don't think RR should be knocked. He is showing what Recruiters/ hogwon managers and head teachers (especially at the big chains) are not going to tell you).

Be careful...

You do not want to shatter some of these people's "fragile" understanding of Korea.

this figure also includes cities (urban areas) in other parts of Korea where the cost of living is lower.... if your living in Seoul or the Seoul area, the average household income would be substantially higher for Koreans....

Austin, you have no understanding of Korea or for that matter of anything, please stop posting.

here is a comparison. my g/f and I live in a double income household(as we both work). At presetn we pull i 3.7 million a month and we are both mid 20's. All these stastics are baseless. I am happy with my life and don't need a monetary comparison for my quality of life.
If you make 1 million a month and you ae happy then surely that is better than 3.2 million and unhappy(as a lot of these households are).
BTW>>>I'm happy Very Happy

would you still be happy 10 years from now when you have a family and are still making the same amount of money?

I won't be doing this 10 years form now. family is not on the cards so even i was making the same money(inflation adjusted) I would be happy. hy is it that people equate happinrss to the amount of money you have. just be happy that you are so fortunant in life that you are healthy and are better off than more than 90% of the other people living in this world

You failed to see the part where I said keep your ramblings to one thread. I think what he says has some validity. But the problem is that RR posts the exact same 2-3 quotes & links in threads and then never comments. In my books he is a pseudo-troll.
