The Grudge. (Korean title Ju On)
The Exorcist and The Ring get honourable mentions but The Grudge has you a little freaked out for the rest of the day, scared that you might be seeing something out of the corner of your eye. |

| Seems like the Exorcist takes the cake as the scariest movie according to most people. I think the reason is that we all have a small part of us that says, "hey, that could really happen to some people." A buddy of mine told me once that there was an even scarier one based on a true story. I never saw it, but i think the title was something like, "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." Ring a bell for anyone? |

Saw This really creepy guy kidnaps peaople and sets them in traps
where they have to saw off their own legs to escape a bomb going off. With a time limit.
Wrong turn Redneck town from hell. Really creepy and Gross
The Hills have Eyes Similar to Wrong Turn but more horrific
The Decent Getting trapped in an underground cavern with all these
Gollum Monsters around.
The Hole A bunch of highschool kids get trapped in an old war bunker and dehydration and hunger set in. A really nasty barfing scene. |

I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Not the scariest movie I've ever seen but definitely creepy with some jarring moments. I like The Exorcist but some parts are just too over the top to really scare me. Emily Rose seems more realistic to me - Young, sheltered girl from a quiet, devout family who is terrified and confused by what is happening to her. Definitely worth watching.
Not the scariest movie I've seen but definitely one of the scariest movie moments for me is the scene in Stephen King's IT when Tim Curry dressed as a clown pops up in the storm grate next to a kid and says "Hiya Jimmy," then assures him that his paper boat will float down there ("We all float!") and bares those sharp teeth at him. Scared the sh*t out of me! I was finally able to put my finger on the reason clowns give me the creeps. I watched it in when I was in high school with two friends, both guys, one on the wrestling team, and they both refused to walk me home after watching that movie. I had to walk to my house at 1am in the fog by myself. |
