Weird. I thought third grade students were too busy studying for the KSAT. That's why I can't teach third grade students at my high school. What's their level of interest in English, particularly in your classes with them?

Last semester 16 hours. They raised it to 21 hours which I refused because it was too high.

They lowered it to 17 & apologized for making such a burdensome schedule in the first place.

Very Happy

About 20 hours in-class, plus assorted paperwork, plus writing ten lessons worth of textbook material per week.

Officially? 18 hours / week.:

18 classes @ 50 minutes = 15 hours / week

10 minutes before class actually starts: -3 hours / week

5 minutes early finishing time on average = -1.5 hours

so about 10 hours (give or take a few minutes) of *actual* teaching / week.

Yeah, we have to teach them the first semester, but not the second. They are really good boys though, and are a joy to teach. Their level is quite good, and they are fun. They seem interested, and I think as the semester goes on, those who aren't into it will just not turn up to class.
