|
|
I'm tearing my hair out trying to get information on obtaining a C3 visa for my girlfriend. I've rang Korean Immigration a few times and they won't help me despite having information in English on the hikorea site. I arranged a meeting this morning at the Immigration Office in Mok-dong to go through the process, only to be met by a clueless ajossh who spoke no English. It is very demoralising to come up against this lack of information or even clues to point me in the right direction from Korean officialdom.
She is currently here on an artist D1 visa which is due to expire soon. She has two exhibitions coming up in April and June and has letters of invitation from the gallery curators. As she is from a country that doesn't have a visa arrangement with Korea, she can't simply come back into Korea on a tourist visa. She therefore has to be invited. I need to know the process for obtaining a C3 visa. I e-mailed the Korean consulate in Shanghai and they said that they don't proces C3 visas to people who are not residents of Shanghai and the surrounding districts. I cannot contact the Korean embassy in Beijing. It seems she would have to get a Certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance in Korea and then use this to obtain the visa in China.
Any help anyone? |

Without specifics on her nationality it is difficult to give accurate information BUT
You might try either:
A) extension of her status of sojourn based on the upcoming events
b) changing her status of sojourn to G1 (C3 won't work because it is limited to less than 90 days AND she will need a new D visa for her art shows) rather than trying to get a new visa. |

Almost impossible for you to get her a C3 visa. You are not related to her. Why can't she get new visa through the curators? That seems the easier and more sure way of her getting another visa. |

Thanks for the info.
She is Iranian and currently has a D1 visa. Her current D1 sponsor won't renew her D1 visa.
But can she get a new D1 visa from the curators even though she will not be in residence at those galleries?
A G1 visa is apparently for:
- Those that are placed under medical care
- Those involved in legal proceedings |
