For anyone interested in hiking, climbing and protecting Korea's mountainous areas you might be interested in this group:
http://www.kmleague.org/
It was set-up by expats in Korea and they seem pretty active and cool. Is anyone here a member? |

| Hmmm, someone replied to this thread then removed their post. Odd. |

Yeah, but I don't want to spend W10,000,000 for clothes and equipment suitable for an expedition to Everest, K-2 or Mt. Vincent in Antarctica... just to take a one-hour stroll up the local 'hill'. |

| Cruise Monkey and Temporary. If you looked at the KML site you'd see that this group is nothing like that. |

My apologies |

Don't worry, I know how you feel sometimes. Most of the 'mountains' in Korea would be considered hills in New Zealand, and a lot of the locals do go a tad overboard with all the equipment. It's the same with the mountain bikers here. I often used to see middle-aged guys wearing all the right stuff, riding full-suspension, 10,000,000 titanium bikes along the Han river bike paths. Still, the guys are happy, they keep the bike shops going and raise awareness of biking in Seoul, but since only 25% end up on the singletrack, we have much less pressure on the trails than one might expect.
Back to KMLeague, I bet these guys know some of the more out of the way and challanging routes in Korea. |
