I have read many things on here about how bad the banks are. I managed to send home $1000 yesterday(paid won - western union) no problem, just had to show my passport. KB* |

western union...yes, simple (and quite expensive). transferring your money from a korean bank to an american one...more rules (but cheaper). |

No ARC is because you've already shown them your passport... why would they want your ARC after that?! |

Western Union has gone crazy in the last few years... I used to work at a grocery store where we did WU... Sending anyone more than X dollars usually resulted in us having to ask things like "Who is the person you are sending this money to? How are they related to you? What is the purpose of the money?" etc etc... Their part in the war on terrorism or something... I had one guy who was actually refused service by WU because his name (or a name spelt almost the same as his) was listed on a US no-fly list... |

OP, go to the same bank and ask for an ATM card that works around the world. See what you think about the bank then. |

Actually, the ARC would have more power since you obtained it with your passport.

Isn't that what banks are supposed to do? Anyone can send back $10,000 per year and those with an E2 visa can send 100% of their salary. Now banks get credit for doing what they are supposed to do in the first place?
OP: As another poster said; try getting an ATM card EVEN FOR USE WITHIN KOREA, from one of these banks.
Then give us your opinion. |
