Does anyone else like doing this? I hate studying anything...especially languages. However, I've been translating a lot of Japanese games that I buy here into English. Generally I'll buy an RPG (Big JRPG fan and also they have the most text) that comes with a Korean language translation book and I'll sit down and play through it and learn a buttload of new words and phrases while I enjoy the game. Its a great way to study Korean without taking all those classes at Korean universities that all the whitebreads around here think is the way to go...and much cheaper too. I just picked up Star Ocean: First Departure today and this will be next assignment.

I would be into that, can you recommend any games? Also, do you play console games or PC games. I just got in last week and was wondering if and where people get consoles here. I played the American version of Star Ocean back home, it's pretty sweet.

Star Ocean I was never released in the States...part 2 and 3 were. They re-released Star Ocean for Japanese fans...thats the one I bought for the PSP. I play mostly console games but I dabble in PC games from time to time. But these days all the great PC games get ported to the Xbox 360 and sometimes the PS3. Console gaming still has a way to go here....but its coming along.

Interesting thread.

A PC Engine / Turbo Duo emulator, and its accompanying games, serve such a purpose quite well. The RPG titles are dated -both stylistically and graphically- but the relative simplicity of the dialogue, coupled with the rather straightforward, task-oriented gameplay allows for a considerable amount of comprehension.

The Red Book audio is nice, too.

How much are consoles here and which would you recommend for the best Korean games?

Also, can I get the Korean emulator games through bittorrent? What should I search for?

I met a Dutch guy in Vietnam whose job it was to translate those books from English into Dutch and German - the most boring man I have ever met in my life, poor sod.

Interesting way to learn a language though - if you ever get around to doing "Winning Eleven" let me know - I just got my ass kicked by Ivory Coast, again!
