Today, I got this overwhelming sense that things are seriously going to be fucked. Soon.

Now, I love/am proud of the USA , but sometimes when you hear about things like this, it's hard to know who to believe: our gov't or the internationalists that are controlling our money, who are equally untrustworthy.

I'm just thinking about when I want to have a family in a few years and what their lives will be like. I'm finishing my Master's: what if I can't even get a job and utilize that degree? Other nations are financially pulling out of our stocks and businesses. Our dollar?!

I think I have a right to be worried, even paranoid, but I can say I am honestly freaked out. Are we really in trouble? Or is this just some sort of scheme? Is this going to become another Great Depression? All empires must fall, and that is exactly what I am afraid of.

yep,you really ARE in trouble this time.
empires come n go,the american century has finished...just as other, larger empires folded in the past, virtually overnight ( ie.roman and british)

buy gold, wear a tinfoil hat and stock up on beans.

actually i read this morning the WON could devalue another 50 percent against the british pound by june this yr.
looks like the dollar will carry on being useless..haha

http://www.ratesfx.com/predictions/pred-krw.html

the upside is ,being in korea, the quality of life is so low anyway,if it all falls apart, whats the difference?
the enviroment ,water, food and air are already at post-civilization levels.

apart from gerswin, scott fitzgerald and the
apollo missions, the mainstream US culture really did the planet in(endless war/cold war; no nutrition fast food n coke ;actors as world leaders;dumb pop culture n tv etc etc etc )

dont worry about it,the golden age of america was long ago n far away...it lost its will decades ago.
america is going hispanic now, from what i have heard, and that culture certainly wont put another man on the moon.

its china time now.

This is all a little premature. The US has something like 300 000 000 people. An infrastructure that huge doesn't just crumble apart because of some numbers in a newspaper.

A word of advice:

Don't take financial advice from someone who bases their advice on hatred of the USA.

Don't worry. We are going to have a bit of a recession and will bounce back in a few years. No worries, really.

The history of the US market has always been periods of strong growth and then recession. The market with each recession, the market has always grown and gotten stronger than the period before it.

Don't worry and ride this out. Don't you realize that the US always has some kind of financial crisis every decade? Every decade the crazies come out and say its the end of the US. And every single time the US bounces back, better off than before.

The media, and those interviewed on the media, has generally been reluctant to cry "Fire!" for obvious reasons. But lately the language has become stronger.

On CNN, someone said the Fed's action wasn't going to prevent a recession, but they were trying to prevent a "prolonged, deep recession."

There is another word for a "prolonged, deep recession." It starts with "D" but I doubt you wil hear this word from the media.

There are way too many bad things happening all at once. It is an economic perfect storm. Once people get scared, really scared, the downturn becomes self-perpetuating. That's why FDR said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

It makes me very sad for people back home looking at what is happening. But the fact is that if you elect a crooked idiot as President, and then re-elect him over an honest intelligent person, you fully deserve to get what you paid for. But at least they can rest assured that America is safe from gay marriage.

err...is there actually ANYONE left on earth who still likes america now(apart from some americans, that is)?

putting on the tinfoil hat sitting in america, talking it up to other americans, won,t really help as the dollar gets dumped globally.

I agreed with everything you said until this point.

It doesn't matter WHO you put in office, it would be the same people on the Federal Reserve board, the same Execs running the banks, and the same business plans in the lending companies.

This economic situation would have happened on anyone's watch.

As my dad has been telling me for the last few years. Get rid of your bank loans because there's gonna be one hell of a shitcloud coming in the next couple of years.

When you say put your faith in capitalism, I always think of Barings Bank or Enron.........

i dunno. i have kinda bet against america for awhile now. the stock market is rigged. 401k's (retirement funds) are backed by nothing, the federal reserve is a private company that operates with no gov't oversight.

the basics are just so messed up and have been that way for along time. when i shipped out for desert storm circa 1990 gas was 89 cents per gallon. i kinda have known america was going downthe tubes in one way or another my whole life. such is one ofthe reasons why i majored in chinese.

do i want america to go down? no. is it kinda inevitable considering the whole systemis corrupt? yes.
