alright, the scenario is:

you have worked halfway through the month (therefore earning half a month's salary), but all of a sudden you have an emergency situation back home and you must leave your job early (without due notice).

your boss has been a p1ick to you and it's a bad place to work, so you're happy to leave. you talk to your boss, but he says no way, if you do leave without notice you must either sacrifice your pay this month or find me a new foreign teacher.

what do you do?

(i tried to put in as many different options as i could... keep in mind, time is an issue)

Well, that is a pretty sucky scenario. I'm sorry.

I guess I'd try to work out a deal with him. Get him to pay the 2 weeks, and give him a few options for new teachers. There are loads of people who have resumes up on different boards...give him their contact info or something.

I'm sure some people would say just run, but hey, you did give him your time and effort for 2 weeks. Get what's yours.

Couldn't the teacher just take an emergency leave of absence? Come back in a couple weeks?

Sending another foreigner to hokwon he11 isn't a good idea. I would tell the boss exactly why I was leaving in a professional way: Exactly what makes the school bad and the boss come off as a p9ick, and that if they don't change the next teacher will probably leave too. Maybe they aren't aware that their style is acceptable in Korea but not acceptable to westerners, and they'll change. I worked at a school where that happened and they totally changed the way they did stuff because they couldn't keep foreign teachers. They thought that foreigners kept leaving because they were foreigners, not because of the terrible conditions.

To be fair the school will be out a foriegn teacher for awhile some some compensation makes sense if you break the contract without giving due notice.

If your boss is a PRI@CK , then there is nothing you can do. I would just leave.
One cant reason with a PRI@CK.
It is amazing! Hogwon owners are always screwing us over , they rarely follow the contract. However we always have to follow it?!?!
If he is aPRIC@K , THEN SOONER OR LATER HE WOULD HA VE RIPPED YOU OFF!!!!
