Without a doubt, the best documentary I've ever seen. Even though it's almost 35 years old, it has timeless, gripping moments.
It also plots a clear parallel to the lies that led to the war in Iraq as well as the current situation there.

One of the film's saddest moments:
General Westmorland: "Orientals have little respect for human life".
I won't tell you what scene is juxtaposed to that comment.

How awful.

Not sure if it's the "best doc ever made" but a good recommendation and worth watching for sure.

Good book on that topic is A Whte Shining Lie (think thats the name.)

I love Nam stuff---a hobby of mine.

Another doc if you aint seen it is called "Sir, Yes Sir!"

Ah, but I never claimed it was the best ever MADE.
Thanks for the other recommendations, but I think you meant "Sir, No Sir!".
I'm downloading that now.
