|
|
I'm having a some difficulty trying to come up with ideas for interesting phonics lessons for 3-5 grade students (fairly low level). I've been trying to include some games for the kids (like Pictionary) to help the kids practice pronunciation, but I'm not sure what else to do.
Any ideas would be apprecitated. |

englishraven.com has phonic sets (starter and builder) I'm using it now. I supplement it with ppts because my kids level are quite low. |

We have loads of phonics books, flashcards etc.... go to the mediafire account. Also many ppts I put together.
I would also recommend that if the students have access to computers (either shared, group or at home), phonics fits well with computers. Lots available in our game room. Just click and play. Teachers can send their students to a "Classroom" and use a generic pw/id for the whole class/school. I urge you to send your students for after school phonics practice either here or elsewhere... Lots more and they are fun.

Hundreds of games and stories. Phonics really is just a game and also simplified text to speech. Using a multi modal approach to learning, ALWAYS showing speech along with text, will kick start English learning.....I know, I've been there and done it. You don't need a phonics program specifically if you do it right (and I caution against a phonics program if you don't have the time or the structure to do it....). Also ge them singing with the text, a la karaoke.
