|
|
So I've got my ARC and now I'm looking to enroll in insurance. I went to the NHIC website and they say this:
Quote: |
The employed insured
Foreign workers shall make an application for enrollment to the employers of their workplaces who are by law responsible for submitting the application to the NHIC with relevant documents including a certificate of foreign registration.
|
1. Where can I get this application? My co-teacher has been looking but she's busy and I'd rather do this myself. And do I submit it to employer or to an NHIC office?
2. What other documents do I need? |

YOU don't need anything except to light a fire under your bosses butt.
He needs your ARC number and to file the application.
You cannot do it yourself.
If he doesn't do it ASAP, then you need to get to a local office, with a Korean speaking friend, and file a complaint that your boss is not enrolling you. don't take no for an answer, keep pushing until you get it (with the little book that goes with it).
No booklet means no insurance and you pay everything out of pocket. |

I'm a SMOE employee, so I don't think they're trying to scam me. My co-teacher has been looking but she can't find anything, and she's busy enough as it is (she was only given a week's notice to be a co-teacher). Would you happen to know how a Korean co-teacher would go about doing this? |

The secretaries in the office take care of this issue. If they don't know how, they need to call the district or SMOE office and ask. It's not your co-teachers' job.
Wasn't SMOE freaked out by the Bill Kapoun incident and wanted to get people their ARCs ASAP for the insurance? Even though you don't need the ARC to get insurance right away? |

Yeah I got my ARC pretty quickly, even though I had to go to two different hospitals twice each and also immigration three times
Which secretary/office are you talking about? Both me and my co-teacher are grateful for your help bippitybop and ttompatz but I'm thinking we need our hands held throughout this process. |

The admin office (the same one that handles your pay and other benefits).
They do it for the rest of the staff, they know how to enroll you too. The procedure is the same. |
