hi,

Some may remember I posted 3 months ago about a poker tournament in Daejeon. That time we got 28 people, and with re-buys, the final pot was 1.82 mill. We paid out to the top 5 places, the winner got 750K.

Well, 3 months is a long time to wait, so we're back!
Less notice this time, I know but our next tournament will take place on Saturday March 29th, kicking off at 4pm.

Buy-ins are 50K which include snacks and soft drinks. The tournament is being held in a bar that will offer some specials on alcoholic beverages also.
There will be a western-style menu available.

The game is Texas-hold-em, people will get moved around different tables as others are eliminated. There will be a prize for everyone who makes the final table, and other spot prizes during the event for bad beats, straight flushes, 4 of a kind etc.

The location is about a 5 minute walk from Daejeon Station. A train to Daejeon from Seoul costs around 19K and takes 53 mins for the KTX or 8K and 1h50 for the Mugunghwa.

For poker lovers, it's tough to get decent game outside of the big casinos, and this tourney is being run by poker players for poker players. As people go out, we will set up a cash table on the side (probably 25 / 50 blinds).

For more info, please PM me or give me a call or text at 010 6433 8383

Can't make it this time, but definitely the next time.

By the way, I've never played poker before.

Just giving it a last bump before the weekend.

We look to have 18 definites and another 15-20 maybes.

I expect 25, which should give us a pot of around 1.6m

It's taking place at the Brickhouse, a bar near Daejeon station.
registration starts around 3.45, hope to get going by 4.15-4.30

anyone coming last minute, give me a call for directions on 010 6433 8383

Well the Daejeon Shootout was 90% successful. By that I mean it dragged on till almost 3am and the final three guys decided to split the pot and go to bed.

There were 23 entrants, and with re-buys, the pot ballooned to exactly 2.5 million, with 1 mil for 1st and 575K for 2nd, the crowd was split between those wanting to win the money and those wanting to get drunk and win the money.

The fact that it dragged on so long is probably my fault, and I will know to run a tighter ship next time around with fewer shots of Jagermeister and faster blinds!

The only person who came due to my post here won joint 1st and 650K (the final 3 guys split 1.95 mill) Take a bow Zappadelta! I hope it made the trip worthwhile.

I will be trying to get another tournament going in May, and I think ti will be even bigger than this one, cause I wont schedule it to coincide with opening day of baseball season!

More info later!

Anyone in the Daejeon area looking for friendly-ish games, drop me a line.

Missed your post. I would have come down for sure. Just curious, what were the re-buy rules?

And, what place did you pay out to?

Paid out to 5th (6th got a bar-tab)

There were unlimited re-buys for the first 2 hours. Anyone who was out bought back in (some twice) .

At the end of 2 hours, everyone had a chance to top-up (same price and same chips as given initially) and 95% of people topped up.
That put a lot of extra money in the pot, but also a lot of chips in play.

having started with 75 chips, the blinds at the end were 100 / 200, so that will tell you that there were a lot of chips out there.

Aside from slow play due to drunkeness, it all worked out pretty well.

We'll have another one in two months, and I'll PM you around that time if you're still interested.

Wow, 95% of the people topped off after 2 hours, didn't know that. I must have been the only person who didn't.

Anyway, it was a great time. Met a lot of nice folks, brought a lot of cash home. I might have been the only non-Daejeoner there, not sure about that.

The play was a little slow at times. But, there isn't much that can be done about it, because it's held at a bar.

I was down on chips early on. About an hour in, I flopped a straight, and probably didn't bet enough. The other guy flopped 2 pair, so he probably wasn't going anywhere anyway. Probably could have lost all my chips right there. He eventually ended up making a full house. I was down to about 20 after that hand. But, I kept patient, and after the break, my luck turned a little and my play got much better.

I want to thank wuzza again for setting it up. I will be there again in May, and I would recommend anyone else who is interested to make the trip down. Daejeon is a nice little city, and you can make a whole weekend out of it.
