Hi,

Any suggestions as to free (or nearly free) downloads to make Vista quicker?

Any good online manual instructions worth reading?

Thanks in advance,
Ken

You don't need to tweak Vista if you have a good, recent computer.

Not the PC, it's an X61 with Duo 2.1Ghz and 2GB RAM.

Way to many progs starting up, looking to trim them down. Not exactly sure what does what ?
There may (almost certainly) be many which are running unnecessarily.

If you are running vista x64 check this site out. many tweaking programs here, some are free or you can try to find a torrent w/ crack for them.

Haven't done it on vista, but probably the same:

1. start->run, type msconfig
2. go to startup tab
3. uncheck extraneous programs
4. ?????
5. Profit!

Thanks for msconfig advice.
I looked into vista, and it sent me to system configuration. Exact same thing.
I switched of all non-ms progs, and things are running smoother.

Thanks,
Ken
