why does Korea have their own forum compared to the other 2 countries?
I know, I still live here over in the states and I have no clue what I am talking about. But this fall I am planning on moving over to Korea and from what I am reading everyone likes Japan/China better. Or is that only those people who have a problem with Korea post here? |

well...it is like this...once upon a time, there was only one forum here for the entire world. one would scan them all and read/search for region specific ones. but, there was a disproportionate numberof korean inquiries/posts, so they got split off on their own forum. so then there was the korean forum and the rest of the world. elsewhere on the web there were other sites that "did" japan ESL quite well. china was only for adventurers and missionaries. thesedays, there are no shortage of nation specific forums here.
this site sure has grown/expanded over the years and they are fairly responsive to our needs. yeah, we always want more. such is the nature of progress. |

Because Korea has the world's highest shortage of foreign English teachers.
And once you come over here and join us, you will understand why. |

Traditionally, there were so many complaints about getting shafted in South Korea in comparison to other nations - including the Gulf States - that Mr. Sperling made a seperate forum for the R.O.K. |

I've also heard from ESL schools in Canada that Koreans are very passionate about education and send more students to Canada than Japan or China.
I also believe in their own country, they hire more foreign teachers than Japan or China so it makes sense that they have their own forums and employment listings on Dave's ESL. |
