Is 70,000 won a month for a gym too pricey? Is this normal?

There is one right near my apartment and it seems nice inside. Pretty spacious but 70$ a month is pretty steep, is this what I am going to be expected to pay for all gyms?

I used City owned facilities for 30,000 won per month. I later changed to a private gym for 50,000. 70,000 does seem a little on the pricey side.

Mine is 60,000 per mo but I pay three mo's at a time so they discount it to 50,000 per mo. Not bad value, especially since I go everyday except Sunday. I live in the country, though. Probably more in Seoul. If you don't mind paying in advance I'd look into if the gym offers any discount for 3mo or 6mo block payment is my advice.

It is midrange.

Often you can find a gym in the community center of a large apartment complex for 30-50.
Free standing gyms in an office building often run 50-100.
Expensive places run 100-200 per month.

The one in my building costs 100k per month (with a sign-up fee) or 1 million per year (prepaid and no sign-up fee).

Mine is 50k a month. That's definitely pricey compared to back home where I was paying about 20 a month.

60,000 here. Rather pricey, since it's hardly state of the art and quite small. And again, this is the price I paid back home for the gym (where people earn over twice as much as Koreans). I don't mind though because it's right near my house and that convenience is worth what is essentially an overpriced joint.

I used to use a gym near my old work place in Galweol Dong that was on the 3rd floor of the district community center.
It was 50,000 per month, but if someone got a 3-month membership, it would only cost about 120,000 won (a savings of 30,000 compared to being charged per month)

I would say try to bargain with them. See if they can give you a token discount. You never know, they might.

As for gym prices here in the US, most people go to LA Fitness since they only $10 a month for a one-year contract.

110,000 for three months. I kind of live in the country though. 70,000 per month seems a little expensive.

Think the one I used to go to was about 45,000 per month, although I used to buy 10 vouchers for 30,000 as it was sometimes difficult finding the time to go.

I've just discovered a good gym in my school actually (been here 6-months and it's in a part of the school I'd never been in before. Typically, my KTs neglected to tell me about it when I arrived when I was making enquiries about where the nearest gym was. Morons) which has pretty much everything you need fo a good workout (treadmill, bike, fixed weight equipment and free weights etc).

just joined a gym 80,000/mth; thats with one year cmt/no fees. The other 2 nearby were slightly less, by 5000 won. But this one has a good view of Seoul and these ultra massaging chairs and the e
