Some good stuff this month:
Johnny Lee: Creating tech marvels out of a $50 Wii Remote.
Johnny Lee demos his amazing Wii Remote hacks, which transform the low-cost game piece into a digital whiteboard, a touchscreen and a head-mounted 3-D viewer. A multi-ovation demo from TED2008.
Paul Koontz: A tourist in North Korea
While in Asia in 2007, TEDster Paul Koontz got the priceless chance to spend a few days in North Korea. He brought his two kids -- and his camera, capturing both quotidian detail (like the military bearing of a lonely traffic warden) and the grand spectacle leading up to the Mass Games. It's a rare perspective on a culture we know far too little about.
Al Gore: New thinking on the climate crisis
In Al Gore's brand-new slideshow (premiering exclusively on TED.com), he presents evidence that the pace of climate change may be even worse than scientists were recently predicting, and challenges us to act with a sense of "generational mission" -- the kind of feeling that brought forth the civil rights movement -- to set it right. Gore's stirring presentation is followed by a brief Q&A in which he is asked for his verdict on the current political candidates' climate policies and on what role he himself might play in future.
Stephen Hawking: Asking big questions about the universe
In keeping with the theme of TED2008, professor Stephen Hawking asks some Big Questions about our universe -- How did the universe begin? How did life begin? Are we alone? -- and discusses how we might go about answering them.

Thanks a million.....
I saw the Hawking talk and I really think he "gets it".....the sort of thing where you have to really live through a lot (I mean upstairs) in order to almost have that sort of "religious" attitude.
I'm going to check out the Johnny Lee one while the girlfriend is out partying ))) Looks awesome.
That's my life -- I had my time and I'm now protecting my brain cells
More later about some other TED Talks I've enjoyed recently. As always, I still have a cool player and playlist of past talks at http://eflclassroom.com/tedtalks.htm (takes about 3 weeks before the new ted talks hit my playlist.) I'd also highly recommend for those interested www.fora.tv
